Perle Calls U.S. Iraq Policy a "Grave Error"
Edited on Wed May-26-04 03:02 PM by welshTerrier2

One of the ideological architects of the Iraq war has criticized the U.S.-led occupation of the country as "a grave error."

Richard Perle, until recently a powerful adviser to U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, described U.S. policy in post-war Iraq as a failure.

"I would be the first to acknowledge we allowed the liberation (of Iraq) to subside into an occupation. And I think that was a grave error, and in some ways a continuing error," said Perle, former chair of the influential Defense Policy Board, which advises the Pentagon.

With violent resistance to the U.S.-led occupation showing no signs of ending, Perle said the biggest mistake in post-war policy "was the failure to turn Iraq back to the Iraqis more or less immediately.

5. NO!!!!!!! He has figured out nothing! Read Below:
All the sudden we see the following Right Wing Pundits/Legislators/Policy Makers have now either regreted the war or have been critical of Bush's incompetence:

Richard Perle
George Will
Michael Savage
Tucker "Sucker" Carlson
Richard Lugar
Chuck Hagel
Bill O'Reilly
William Safire

....and you know why they aren't happy, not because things are failing and our soldiers are dying and America's credibility has been diminished, but that this mess is going to cost Bush the election. That's why Richard Perle and his criminal minions are freting now. If Bushler didn't have to face the election this fall, none of these scumbags would saying a word against *!

BASTARDS!!!

:puke:

:argh:

7. By the merest coincidence, everyone on that list...
...also belongs on the "Really should be permanetly blacklisted from American politics and policy" list. It's just missing a few more names.

6. "... more or less immediately."
... i.e., Bush should have put Chalabi in charge. The neo-cons were the ones who had flown in Chalabi and his own security force. Recall the consternation of the military in having to both provide security for them and keep them out of the way.

I wonder how Perle manages to shave in the morning when he can't see his own reflection in the mirror.

8. The only error this myopic imperialist detects...
is that we stayed in Iraq instead of turning it over to Iraqis and moving our troops on to Syria, then to Iran, then...
