Is anger really channeled into productive means, or does it just shorten our lives with rage?

Thoughts? Opinions?

1. Righteous anger is
what helps keep things going on a fairly straight track. Without it, things can go to hell in a handbasket real quick. Look how quick it did in the 3 years after Bush stole the election. Righteous anger may have raised enough hell that something may have been done about the Supreme Court's decision. The anger that should have manifested itself didn't and we're reaping the rewards.

3. Righteous anger is emotional communication
It's an important part of human society. Otherwise all you have in unrighteous anger.

2. A number of years ago...
I read an essay by an oriental(by birth) martial arts master. He said that the best mindset to take into a physical confrontation was one of righteous indignation. Not anger, indignation.

I have tried to remember that.

4. it only shortens life if
you do not act upon it in constructive ways. If you stew and let it fester, yes it will probably shorten your life.

But if it becomes a motivating factor that motivates you to create the better world, then I think it is a powerful positive force that will actually lengthen your life and create satisfaction...

5. Do you think...
... the Civil Rights movement would have gotten anywhere without it?

Don't fall for the freep trap of claiming anger is a sign of dysfunction (which is hypocritical if you read their posts).

Anger is a normal human response to injustice. I make no apologies for mine.
