Wellstone memorial
anyone got a snappy response to people who say it was in "poor taste"? I've heard Al Franken talk about it but I can't come up with a snappy comeback on this...The Repukes really did a good job it twisting this one. I'm in Minneapolis and it still seems to be a sore point for some people here....
This came up as a slam to the democrats during a conversation about what a failure Bunnypants is.
"Well the democrats are just as bad...look at the Wellstone Memorial..."
I said something like...yeah but 800 people didn't die there....the conversation went south from there...

1. How about "Who the fuck are you -- the funeral police"?
"Who do you think you are to tell Wellstone's family how to and how not to grieve?"

"How would you like it if your entire family died in a horrible accident and a bunch of partisan hacks started ragging on your funeral services?"

Works for me.

3. LOL--That 's brilliant
Okay-that cracks me up because it's so true! Trust me, if I died tomorrow, I'd want someone at my memorial service to mention my passionate opposition to our current administration!

4. I would just mention the "House Managers" That was poor taste!
Dean, Al, the Wellstone memorial...the Republicans and neocons just don't like the rest of us getting emotionally charged and passionate about our beliefs. They paint anyone who is vocal about anything Bush or Republican as anti-America, hysterical, insane etc. It's just a ploy to make people shut up. Just think if someone had 'screamed that Hitler was crazy and evil' that person would have been shot or imprisoned. Get the picture. Those leading this administration are just a little less fascist.

2. Why? Did the Democrats
put a ban on any "public display of grief" for Wellstone and family? What a bunch of MEALY-MOUTHER TWO-FACED HYPOCRITES!! It brings to mind the Limbaughesque downplaying of those prison "torture/humiliation" reports. Ask them ASS-HOLES to mentally insert Jessica Lynch in any of those pictures.

Wellstone Memorial? Check my sig-line. I first found that on DU during that period. It was ~2am then, and ran over 4 hours, but I couldn't stop watching it. It's well organized and easily navigable. I must have viewed it at least 8 times since then. (I just checked to see if the link still works. It does and it's 'paused' at this moment on another browser window. I'll watch it again, before getting breakfast ready!).
