Anyone here disagree with THE SUBSTANCE of Gore's speech?
Because if you don't and you take the bait that he's "too angry" and "will alienate moderates" and "his speech was the equivalent of the Dean scream" then you are helping to neutralize what he said. We let the Republicans use the media to gore Gore. We let them get away with it with the Wellstone memorial. We let them do it to Dean. We are now letting them do it to Gore again. I can assure you that it will happen to Kerry as well NO MATTER HOW FUCKING REASONABLE AND MODERATE HE TRIES TO BE! STOP LETTING YOURSELF BE USED LIKE THIS!

1. I believe it is
the most honest and accurate speech by any politician of his stature since 1968.

2. No, Gore had the guts to say outloud what too many democrats have
been afraid to say. But we are not being used. Gore points out the truth, Kerry gives solutions to how to counteract and fix the problems the bush* administration has caused.

3. The media hates Gore; they have him pegged as a loser
Even worse, now he's the competition. He's blown off the mainstream media for four years, endorsed maverick Dean, and invested in NWI, which is his way of saying the mainstream media has terminally overdosed on its own bullshit.

So they hate his ass, and its mutual.

Next.

5. that's some catch, that Catch-22
There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one's safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to. Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle.
"That's some catch, that Catch-22," he observed.
"It's the best there is," Doc Daneeka agreed.

6. How could anyone here disagree with it?
It was painful to watch in a sense to see what this country missed out on....He would have made a great president.

7. And Democrats lose if they let the Repubs tone down the "rhetoric"
Because if they level the playing field with no passion and no Democratic partisanship, they can continue to say things like "He's a flip-flopper" or he doesn't know which side he is on, etc, and this falls right into their trap. Someone has to tell the truth and someone has to tell it loud. Those Democrats that go along with the Repub line of "over the top" and "intemperate" are cutting their own throats.
