2. I volunteered at Bev's site

http://www.blackboxvoting.com

to watch the polls. I'm not sure how much we can accomplish, but at least we can prove that there were actual votes if a precinct registers a minus vote, or that there were only so many voters if the precinct registers 10 times as many as show up. And I know our next President, John Kerry, already has lawyers working on the BBV problem, but I don't know if there will be exit polls.

3. You don't really think the media would give that up, do you?
What the heck would they broadcast all night? There will be exit polls for sure, but I suspect they will be a lot more careful....this time....not to make wild guesses.

4. there were no exit polls in Georgia for the 2002 Senate race
There were no exit polls in Georgia for the 2002 Senate race.

Also, the Voter News Service didn't make wild guesses in 2000.

It called Florida for Gore, but Theresa Lepore's "Butterfuly Ballot" which caused people to have their votes meant for Al Gore counted for Pat Buchanan complicted matters.

5. We're not talking about Georgia here, it's NATIONAL!
State races, maybe no exit polls, but on a National level....I just don't believe the media would have the self control to be able to keep thier hands off.

If I'm wrong, that's a good thing.

Will I be curious enough to stay up ALL NIGHT? You bet your sweet bippy I would!

6. think again
The Voter News Service (VNS) disbanded officially after the so-called debacles in 2000 and 2002. In reality, what I think happened is that the exit polls were accurate, but since they disagreed with the election results, everyone blamed the exit polling methodology.
I used to think that the exit polls were a safeguard against election-stealing, but obviously that's not the case any more.
What used to happen is that all the major network and news outlets shared the services of VNS, which meant they all got the same information, at the same time.
Now, it appears that there is either going to be some kind of new consortium, or each news outfit will handle their own.
The worst case scenario will be if there is NO exit polling -- we all know what that means.
