1. With good reason
I am as disgusted as he is

Been following the Padilla case from word GO

Hell even bothered SENDING Amicus Briefs to the
Court... the USSC.

(Hi Mike, you can take notes again, something
about the right of the accused to face their accusers
and a speedy trial. You may know about it, have
you FINALLY read that Constitution I told you to
read)

8. Yep since Bev told us
about Agent Mike, I make a point to
remind him of the Constitution on a regular
basis. Heck, I have even posted it a
couple times for him to read it.

I doubt he really understands it... or is too
chicken to tell his bosses, hey that is an
illegal order!

I know, I know he works for the Secret Service,
so he may not have taken the same oath I took.

So I just get in his face, I know he reads the site.

So please join me, HI MIKE, we love you, learn
something Mike... especially this love for this
silly document that our founding fathers had the
foresight and genious to write and put down in writing.

:-)

I am registered, but when I click on "Listen Live," the page reloads and nothing happens.

They need to get their shit together.

blockers are off

6. It didn't work. My conclusion is, "Fuck KGO." Read this message . . .
I'm on AOL. This is what I found on their site:

"If you are experiencing problems in signing up or participating in our KGO Listener Club using a AOL browser, please launch a copy of Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator once you are online and use that to signup or participate in the KGO Listener Club. If your version of AOL software doesn't allow you to run external applications over your dialup connection, then you will need to upgrade your AOL software to the most recent version. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to having you as a member of the KGO Listener Club."

How goddamn stupid can they be? Fuck them.

7. You use AOL and blame KGO when AOL's Browser denies you access?
Sorry to be so blunt, but how goddam stupid can YOU be?

Look, do yourself a favor. If you are somehow obligated to use the world's most restrictive ISP outside of China, then at least have the good sense to download a browser that will bypass a lot of the censoring that AOL imposes on its subscribers. I strongly recommend Firefox. It has pop-up blocking built in, but allows exceptions like you will need for Bernie Ward's stream.

9. Why do you think I LISTEN to KGO
over IE, never mind I have AOL...

It is NOT KGO's fault, but AOL, which does not allow you to
run much... they used to... they are trying to make sure you
Cannot get out of the reservation.

Oh and by the way, I also listen to AAR the same way, over I.E.

10. This is the first big problem I've had getting a live stream
Are you saying AOL is censoring Bernie or KGO? Why?

I have listened to every other talk show linked on DU. I've had one or two minor problems that were easily, and immediately, fixed.

BTW, what player does KGO use? I didn't see one identified on their site. I have no problems with sites that use RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, Winamp, LiquidCompass, Surfer, QuickTime, or any other player you can name.

Sorry, but your assertion that it is all AOL's fault doesn't fly.

AOL is a disaster. Dial em up, and lauch IE and use it to browse. The only difference is you won;t have all of the obnoxious AOL crap to play through.

11. Well, there it is....AOL
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 03:23 AM by Zinfandel
Try a local ISP...Support them, (if their politics meet with yours.

The reason? AOL has blocked any mail coming from my address to aol
members. I have gotten many stupid reasons for this from potential
spam, to todays reason "I send too many emails to aol".
I feel that I have been "marked" by AOL's spyware on American
Citizens. I told people months ago to dump Amateurs Online, or India
Online because of collusion with homeland security and Bill Gates
being on the Homeland Security team.

Now it's come to this. I'm not sure if they will go as far as adding
me to the other sites they block, but some aol listeners are having
a hard time getting on the show.
If you are a subscriber, or if you want to correspond with me, you
will have to do one of the following:

Do the AMERICAN thing and get rid of Outsourcing, updated co-
intelpro AOL. Get a real server company without censorship.
Or, get a free email address at either www.hotmail.com or
www.yahoo.com and get that email address to me. I will make the
changes necessary on this end.

If you are continuing with AOL, I cannot help you, nor will I waste anymore of my time trying to get through to an American speaking
person who may have a brain at AOL. More distraction.
I also suggest you contact aol or compuserve (owned by aol) and
demand answers to this. You may find my stuff in your spam folder if
you can figure out how to access it on India Online.

As I always say, it's time to vote with your dollars. My prediction
is that aol will be going down the drain soon enough anyway.
Sorry for the hassle, but wanted to let you know.

Love,
Meria

12. I'm very satisfied with AOL
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 03:30 AM by TheWizardOfMudd
KGO is blowing it. I get AAR and every other Internet radio show with no problems. KGO needs to use RealPlayer or something good. They don't. I don't know how many users AOL has now, but KGO is alienating all of them. So be it.

If you have evidence that AOL is censoring Bernie Ward, I'd love to examine it.

Edit: AOL has a huge technical support center a half a mile from me, in OKC.

13. AOL is the worst possible browser.
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 03:46 AM by stickdog
I evaluate browsers as part of my job creating websites.

AOL is the worst. The only people who use it are people who don't know better.

Sorry.

Also, RealPlayer is spyware.

18. On the contrary
When I open IE it is slow and I get inundated with pop ups. AOL has a very effective pop up blocker.

I have a spyware blocker. RealAudio is the preferred tool to listen to AAR.

14. Ummm, WOM?
AOL sucks. Everyone who is tech-saavy knows this. AOL is for people who don't know much about the internet and buy into the AOL hype. It's browser is crap and the last time I tried using it (admittedly about 4 years ago) seemed as if it's main function was to deliver ads to me, though only those that delivered a kickback to AOL themselves.

AOL constantly censors content, presumably to remain "family-friendly". Thanks, but I don't want a "family friendly" source of information, I want the truth. Are they censoring Bernie Ward? I have no idea, nor do I care. Censoring anything is enough for me.

BTW AOL is compatible, for the most part, with most content out there. As long as you use one of the major streaming formats, as you stated. But so what? People like to slam Kazaa for example as a bad program due to all the spyware etc that comes loaded on it (and Kazaa is bad due to this) but did you know that RealOne is actually worse? A whole truckload of spyware and adware, plus, it is constantly trying to take over your computer.

There's a reason every geek out there calls it AO-Hell you know. It aint because it keeps you warm.

19. I haven't bought into hype
Neither do I get ads delivered to me.

None of my content is censored. I have never been denied access to any website.

AOL has an excellent pop up blocker.

I think you just made all that stuff up! AOL works very well.

16. I've Made A Point

of NEVER using AOHell! I was on their first network, Q-Link back in the Commodore 64 days. Then it was a blast! Small, fun, just a good group of guys shootin' the shit and bragging on how many disk drives they had strung around their living rooms in a daisy chain. We had blazing fast 120 baud modems and we were hot shit on silver platters!

/wavy lines

When they dumped the Commodore stuff, it was right after a bunch of people re-upped their memberships to Q-. AFAIK nobody got their money back. Not only that, but the contest points that were being awarded never got redeemed, either. Wht we *were* offered was membership in AOL... which, OF COURSE did NOT support the C=64, C=120 or the newer machines Commodore was launching (Alzheimer's! I can't remember what they were called!). NO, to get onto AOL, you HAD to have a PC!

About six months later, most of the Commo BBSes went to hacker heaven and I had to get my first PC, a retread 426 kit-bashed together from six other 'puters. Periodically, I'd go over and have a look at AOHell, but what I saw disgusted me. Ads, ads, more ads and when you wwere tired of all the ads, you could stop and look at the commercials! Booooh!

I've hung out on the Well, bashed around Genie, Slip.net, early versions of ATT and others. NOTHING sucks as bad as AOL except possibly MSonline! (took me three tries to get OFF that friggin server! Yuck!)

22. To all AOL users.....
If you call them to cancel your subscription they offer to drop the price to 9.95 per month. Tell them you are getting broadband. My mom loves AOL, we did this a few days ago. Now I don't feel so dirty and my mom can buy more speed every month.:(

Firefox is the best browser.
