Not good. Isn't it a swing State?

1. I didn't either, but John Kerry had better
appoint a Michigan campaign representative there, if he wants to win. The repubs are catching up in the polls...according to C-SPAN. They have a Dem Governor and 2 Dem Senators and the repubs are doing well there. Get with it Kerry!!!

They just said he didn't have one.

NOT a STATE REP...a CAMPAIGN Rep. Someone to run his campaign in Michigan. ;)

Her name is (Something) Colburn. I forget her first name... but she's been on the ground and running for months!

She IS the campaign rep in charge of the MI state Kerry campaign.

11. Hmmmm.
Interesting. How could C-SPAN get that wrong? So, he's NOT doing badly in Michigan? They made it sound like it was VERY close in the polls. They thought it was interesting enough to report because MI has a DEM Governor and 2 DEM Senators. What's going on? :wtf:

15. How? They are going to constantly use words and innuendo
to make it sound like Dems are "scrambling", "desperate", "disorganized"....they are GOP operatives for God's sake, like the rest of mainstream media. Hadn't you noticed?

18. really? where?
The campaign is invisible here. I've had the only serious JK supporter I know calling to beg, cojole and plead with me to get the Deanies on some grassroots efforts here cause there ain't no presence ANYWHERE.

It's damn sad.

2. MI Dems did just fine in 2000 and 2002
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 07:47 AM by displacedtexan
For a state which was being strangled by repukes for a decade, MI began to break free in 2000 (Stabenow and Gore won the state; Bush*, Repuke gov. and Spence Abraham lost; even Northern MI towns elected Dem mayors and city council members!). The election of Gov. Granholm was a huge success!

3. no, Michigan is a DEMOCRATIC state....and people are real mad
about HUGE job losses....

here's a sign recently posted in the small reTHUGlican town of Marysville, Michigan, near Port Huron, Michigan....really surprised me that even the diehard reTHUGlican areas are turning against bush*

ALL the Unions in Michigan endorsed Kerry....and there is a LOT of Unions, and their families and friends follow the Union endorsement...AND bush* was caught having his campaign clothing made oversees....while Kerry has all his campaign stuff MADE IN AMERICA by UNION WORKER....

Michigan also has a Democratic Governor, Jennifer Granholm....and that should tell you something about the state of the Democratic Party in Michigan....

GO Michigan.....BEAT BUSH....

12. Our "cute" governor
She's kinda got a Sarah McLachland thing going....oh wait she's also Canadaian too.

Actually she opened the Democratic Primary here at UofM - she's pretty cute up close in person, if you can see past the sides of beef that are her bodyguards.

Michigan is going to go Democratic, we just have a hard time agreeing on anything - I think that's a problem (and a weakness) for Democrats in general.

19. She's very pretty
and very personable. I recommend all Michiganders meet her when given the chance. She's smart, politically savvy and beautiful. I'd love to see them amend the constitution so she could run for Prez. She'd clean the floor with Ahhnooold.

9. More C-Span Misinformation
I don't know who these "Hotline" reporters are, but they always seem to find the stories about how the Democrats are in trouble or imploding and the GOOP is assumed to be the majority party and all their campaign shenananigans are no big deal.

Amazing how little was said by this "reporter" about a real political story...the SD Congressional run-off and its impact this morning inside the beltway (isn't that what these people supposed to be reporting?).

It's interesting to trace a talking point all day via C-Span now. Either via the hosts or these "contributors", I've caught several blast fax points making it as a "news item" and later quoted by some wingnut hate radio goon, and since it's from C-Span (not the individual or the organization they work for) it's assumed its credible.

I sure hope there's a journalist or political scientist who is monitoring the manipulation of the media today...McLuan would be stunned.

13. Betsy DeVos is one reason the repukes are losing ground in MI
She (the thug state party chairwoman) keeps saying things like Michigan workers are paid too much and that Michigan needs to be a right-to-work state. Actually, that's a good thing for the Dems. I know more than a few folks who previously supported the republican party and now say that they will vote for Kerry.

14. You're in step compared to Indiana
There are whole sections of the state that the Democratic Party has pretty much abandoned to the ReTHUGs. Our "leadership" is weak, and it seems to me that Kernan's election strategy is "Hey, I'm from the same party Evan Bayh is from!"

Joe Hoggsett is an ass!

days . i wonder if he is looking for someone who will especially reach out to the arab/muslim community. they are not a traditional democratic voting group but might be this time.
