I guess I agree that this should be reported. Ordinarily, I'd say not to give the writer the attention, plus the writer will probably claim religious harrassment, but this person seems to be someone who is "into" the idea of authority. Most folks behave pretty well because it basically works best for them, but this person seems like the sort that would stick needles under their own fingernails if Jesus said to do it. Let's see how the writer does when a legal authority puts the skids to this sort of behavior. It was clearly indicated to be a threat. There are consequences to making threats.

This is exactly the mentality that scares me to death when I see it in real life--face to face. THIS is the kind of guy who would be a Son of Sam type--the "Crusader for God" mentality, who thinks he's doing some ecclesiastical favor by swearing at his victims and screaming in their faces while he figures out innovative ways to hurt them.

Did you notice the continual references to Jesus condemning people to hell? This is (obviously!) not a traditional Christian theology, this is a version from someone using religion as a justification for acts that the normal mind can't accept regularly.

I know others on here have told you to contact police--and had I received this letter I would have. I realize you got this a while back, and have this guy pegged as a wackaloon or wingnut. He is. He also is quite dangerous.

I have to ask you, however, if you judge him as no threat to your own safety, do you think he could potentially harm someone else? YOU might be well armed and quite capable of self defense, but isn't it possible that this guy might hurt someone else that fails to meet his standards?

That letter may provide valuable information to the authorities about someone who has (or will) harm several people. I urge you to contact police--even if you did get that letter several months ago.

I'm sorry to lecture you--and I realize you are an adult (more than capable of self direction and logic!)--but I do think you should realize just how far off the deep end this guy really is and what a threat he is to everyone he contacts.

This guy has hate crime written all over him. I wouldn't be surprised if he's already killed someone. Evidence like this sometimes leads police to a culprit when they don't have any other leads. If I was you I would touch the letter as little as possible as it could very well have finger prints on it.

You should take it to the police just for other peoples sake. Also, I'm pretty sure sending threats in the US Mail is a felony under federal law... so the feds may be able to get involved too.

that person is no more insane than the next fanatic. he just has an extreme authoritarian world view. I actually appreciated his honesty in sharing the free-will thing with us. Most rigid types don't bother to try and see the other side of the coin. That was cool of him to explain his worldview & in a way he was right. The root of the differences between us are our world views (freewill vs. God's will). Of course his flaws are obvious, but it's nice to know he listens to both sides & has given it some thought before assuring himself 100% that he is right.

there is no getting through to these types. the best way to handle them is to be boldly unpredictible in your reaction. it throws them off their program.
