I finally figured out what 6/30 is all about |
|
Why are they sticking to this obviously bad plan? Well, all I had to do was think of the most evil possible reason and there it was! It's so simple--why didn't I see it?
Once they have a mock government in place, they will be able to define "evil" Iraqis and "good" Iraqis. Those who give immediate, unquestioning support to the "ruling council" will be "good, patriotic, freedom-loving Iraqis" who will not be hassled. Those who protest, however reasonably or peacefully, will be "evil, freedom-hating terrorists" who will be constantly under threat of prison. Anyone who organizes a protest will be targeted, taken away, tortured, and maybe shot, since any sort of disagreement will be seen as insurgency and rebellion.
See? This will clear up the murkiness. Rather than shoot at everyone, we can now aim our guns at the people who don't accept the new "government."

The new government will chase the US out of Iraq. They have to. If they don't they will garner the wrath of every Iraqi and will not survive.
What has happened is that June 30, will turn out to be the day * began his exodus from Iraq.
June 30 is the beginning of the end for the US occupation. While the bushies may have hoped to use the new government as a tool, I believe it will bite them on the ass.
Soon after June 30, the US will be asked to leave Iraq as soon as possible.

3. They're Trying to Create a Quisling Government |

Unfortunately for Bush, I think the subjects will turn on the ruler and go their own way. The US troops will still be there as a threat, but the Iraqis know the US is not going to reinvade in any major way.

I think it has an awful lot to do with the resolution in the UN that exempts the US from being tried for war crimes. This resolution happens to end on June 30, the exact same day. They absolutely HAVE to give sovereignty to Iraq then, because if the resolution is not renewed, then the US can be held accountable for war crimes. I could be wrong, maybe someone more knowledgeable can help, but the exact same dates is just to big a coincidence for me.

Bush will declare victory in Iraq and begin bringing troops home. Things will go wrong in Iraq, but it will no longer be his fault. It will be the fault of the evil, terrorists and the incompetence of the good Iraqi givernment to deal with them. Nevertheless, Bush doesn't believe in nation building, so it will be time to let the Iraqis to chart their own course to freedom, wash his hands, and focus on the election.
