Sooo IS Bill Cosby "being attacked" "taking grief"? |
|
Two weeks ago Mr.Cosby issued out some tough love to the black community or at least to some parts. My Repub boss was telling me about it before I had read or seen anything on it, must have been the lead item on Fox News.
I just went out to run an errand and heard "C" league RW hate radio man Glen Beck STILL talking about it. I guess I haven't been watching the right (or rightwing for that matter) TV talking head shows because the only mention I have seen of it since then was in the "black" Richmond newspaper the Richmond Free-Press (no link available). Congressman Elijah Cummings from Baltimore was the lead story in last weeks paper saying that he agreed with Cosby (but probably would have used different language).
So have I missed the uproar that followed or is this what it appears to be- the rightwing punditry seizing on it to convince their listeners that Coz is being attacked and to further instill stereotypes of blacks in their listeners heads?

I don't know where people are getting that the black community is upset about Cosby's comments. I am a part of that community and absolutely *everyone* I have spoken to agrees with what he said.

2. I was thinking the same thing this morning |
|
The only people talking about this supposed outrage are the conservative mouthpieces on faux and hate radio. Did I miss the ultra secret liberal memo that said we are all pissed off at Cosby now? And all this time I thought I was in the loop.

the "communion" issue they created and have kept going about Kerry being pro-choice. I haven't heard that Catholic Republicans (are there any?) politicians who support the death penalty being faced with this.
That is what I thought. When I saw the Free-Press headline (ABOVE the paper's title) and read the article it didn't go along with what I was hearing on the airwaves.
ON EDIT-changed "how" to "that" in second sentence.

the communion thing really pisses me off...it's a non issue and yet I have to keep hearing about it because these nuts are so dedicated to making it an issue. Meanwhile, it's hilarious to think about the backlash that would occur if Bush were Catholic and denied communion for, you know, starting war and killing thousands of people.
