For the second time in less than a year, Democrat Buddy Dyer has won the mayor’s office of Orlando, Florida. But once again, repugs just won’t stand for it. Local media is, as expected, on their side, and is smearing the new mayor at every opportunity:

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Buddy Dyer was sworn in as Orlando Mayor during an inauguration celebration late Tuesday afternoon, but all of it could be for nothing. Dyer's election victory could be thrown out because of two pending cases involving the vote.
Speaking to the media, hours before his inauguration Tuesday, Mayor Buddy Dyer seemed to view his former opponent, Ken Mulvaney, as a sore loser who simply won't give up.
"The other side has basically run a smear campaign and it was that way before election, during and I'm just sorry anyone other than myself has to be target of their affections," Dyer said.

$13,000 In Tax Dollars Spent On Inauguration Party
UPDATED: 6:45 am EDT June 2, 2004
ORLANDO, Fla. -- It's an election that's under the microscope of state investigators. But Tuesday, nearly $13,000 taxpayer dollars were spent to swear in the mayor of Orlando. Tuesday evening, Mayor Buddy Dyer official starts his first full term as mayor of Orlando.
depending on the outcome of a state investigation and civil lawsuit, the race may not be officially decided.
The mayor has no problem with the thousands spent on his inauguration and it's the people of Orlando's money.
The set-up began Tuesday morning for the big event, an oath of office ceremony for three Orlando city commissioners in addition to Mayor Buddy Dyer, but it's the mayor who attracts the most attention and the cost of the inaugural party is high.
It starts with just over $3,000 for the audio/visual aids. But even more costly are the decorations, $3,700 spent on things like drapes, some of them hiding construction near City Hall. Add to that $2,300 for the printed inaugural invitations.
