They can not tell the truth! They lie about everything!
Republican Smear Machine is what Kerry and Brock call it. Memorize that phrase and use it often. We must standardize out lexicon if we want to embed it in the public conscience.

12. Franken pointed out a few of his lies |
|
and Boortz in his 30 second rebuttal said basically, it's ok for me to lie but it's childish for you to call me on it, so grow up. lol That's the best he could do! It was great!

20. I came in towards the end of it... |
|
...but from what I heard Boortz was trying to push that old bullshit about how it was the Democrats who opposed desegregation in the south during the Civil Rights Movement. Yes, they were Democrats but not LIBERAL Democrats and they of course went on to become the Republicans of today.

22. Bortz said on CNN that they invited Al to host his show |
|
while he was on vacation but Franken declined because he would not have control of the phones. When Franken objected, Bortz said it must be in the transcript, cause Bortz was actually talking about a couple of democrats who had a show in Tennessee. Franken then PLAYED the ACTUAL CNN interview and Bortz went BONKERS...saying Franken was playing the Gotcha game!!!
LOL!!!

...just pulled a Bill O'Reilly. He has a little shit fit just like O'Reilly did when he was interviewed by Terry Gross. And of course, he had to go because he had something to do just like David Brooks claimed just a little while ago. Cowards.

second soundbite to play back to his listeners. Guaranteed that his closing remarks will be played on his show. Nothing else.

What a friggin' idiot that guy was. Of course, he never addressed any issues that Al brought up and hung up because he is obviously used to being able to spout his venomous misinformation without being challenged on it.

Janeane had said that liberalism gave us the civil rights act, and Boortz had come back with the assertion that the Democrats had fought it.
Al asked him "what Democrats?" and nailed him with the fact that it was Thurmond and other Dixiecrats who eventually switched to the Republican party.
Boortz was so flummoxed he got mad and hung up.

First Brooks, now that asshole Boortz.
Poor little Neil, the alleged "libertarian". GOP shill.
Now remember (let's say it all together) - in the sixties it was the Dems that fought the Civil Rights act - oh, it was Dems like Strom "Pimp Daddy" Thurmond? That is sort of different....

25. I'm not sure but I'd suspect Senator Byrd was one of them also |
|
I realize that the majority like Trent Lott and Strom Thurmond and that ex Senator from Texas, Graham. But we did have a few that remained Democrats that opposed Civil rights Act.

|
were not around to vote in the sixties. That stuff WAS 40 yrs ago. WE don't make it an issue, that seems to be the method of the GOP.
Byrd, yes. He's a former Klansman, etc. We know that. He has also been a powerrful voice in the last 10 or so years.

|
on Phil Donahue's show on MSNBC about a month before MSNBC yanked its highest rated show. Boortz actually walked off in a hissy fit because he wasn't allowed to filibuster all of the other guests. What an infantile boor!

We ought to gather up the links to all these DU threads about that interview and send them to AAR and Franken so they can see the positive effect they are having. I know Franken's main goal is to get the word out about all the lies.
