May Cable Ratings Are In
There's a link to the word document here:
http://www.cablenewser.com/

Bad news: Fox still has all the top ratings. O'Leilly first, then Hannity, then a few others. The first one that isn't Fox is Larry King on CNN. Also bad news is that Olbermann is low. We need him to do well!

Good news: Dennis Miller at the bottom. Yipee!

Also some related good news:
"There appears to be a hairline crack in the fortress" that is FOX News, an industry source tells CableNewser. "FOX & Friends is down the most of all the morning shows and posted a staggering loss of 45% (year-to-year) in the key 25-54 demo. While the show still handily beats CNN, FOX & Friends was nipping at the heels of CBS's Early Show just a year ago."

1. These are just cable news shows
The Daily Show still beats all cable news outlets combined.

3. from the report, though:
May Ratings: MSNBC's Conundrum; Countdown's Incremental Improvement
"What's MSNBC going to do?," Mark asks in an e-mail. "Their only semi-successful show is Hardball, but it doesn't air in traditional ‘primetime.’" He suggests that Hardball could be moved to the 10pm slot. (Or be repeated there?) Also: Are Countdown’s ratings slowly improving? In the first quarter of ‘04, Countdown averaged 243,000 households. In April, it averaged 259,000. In May, that number rose to 276,000… 3:12:17 PM

I am a faithful watcher. What else can we do to help Olbermann?

4. I guess 'slowly improving' is better than sinking (like Miller, haha)
but I really wish his ratings were climbing even higher.

I guess all we can do is watch and tell others to watch.

I've already mentioned to a few people (regardless of their political leanings) that his show is hip and funny and a great way to watch the news rather than the regular talking heads yelling at each other. We just need to spread the word! :)

5. Decline in Fox and Friends could be due to two factors
1. The hard core viewers are gradually getting turned off by the increasing turn to a daytime show a la Good Morning America or Today where soft news and entertainment features preside over hard news or...

2. (what I really figure the problem is) The viewership that is not hard core right wing had gradually gotten tired of the relentless pro-Bush/pro-war propaganda being constantly spewed out by the hosts despite indications that the Iraq situation has been going in the totally opposite direction .
