TalkingPointsMemo:Chalabi collected info on his American contacts to "use"
o get influence (and perhaps threaten them later?)

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/

Watch out! Shoes dropping!

From Newsweek ...
One Bush administration official said that in addition to harboring suspicions that Chalabi had been leaking sensitive U.S. information to Iran both before and after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, some U.S. officials also believe that Chalabi had collected and maintained files of potentially damaging information on U.S. officials with whom he had or was going to interact for the purpose of influencing them. Some officials said that when Iraqi authorities raided Chalabi’s offices, one of the things American officials hoped they would look for was Chalabi’s cache of information he had gathered on Americans.

Could get ugly.

(this is so short I copied the whole snippet. Is that OK?)

2. He coulda made a fortune in the used car business
As it is, he seems destined to have one of those unfortunate accidents that cleans up so many messes this administration makes.

3. Don't you get it? He can't get whacked
Chalabi has the goods ready to be released in the event he gets whacked.

Same as Clinton with BCCI...

5. Chalabi also knew bush/cheney bigger snakes....
Chalabi knew exactly how to cover his ass, and he can soon demand black mail money....close to the elections. Chalabi already met his goals; having bush/chaney over throw saddam.

9. No Wonder they came out with Padilla as Big News....
For the last two days, the bushes put out Padilla's information, highly emotional, to cover up for today's big news of bush getting a lawyer. My republican neighbor gave me that scoop.

11. They are just doing all that yelling about Padilla because
the Supremes might rule agains *'s right to declare an American citizen an enemy combatant.

They want to get people all stirred up against those nasty activist judges, just in case. See what a bad guy Padilla was? And the Supreme Court wants us to let him go?

Of course that is not what they want, really. The guys should have a trial.

Also, the Padilla information can distract from the bad news on Iraq. It is almost as good as Scott Peterson and Kobe. It can instill fear, too, something they like almost as much as distractions.
