Chimpy giving Chalabi the Ken Lay treatment
From Atrios:

Flopped

Reader r writes in:

George W. Bush last Feburary, on Meet The Press (emphasis added):

Russert: If the Iraqis choose, however, an Islamic extremist regime, would you accept that, and would that be better for the United States than Saddam Hussein?

President Bush: They're not going to develop that. And the reason I can say that is because I'm very aware of this basic law they're writing. They're not going to develop that because right here in the Oval Office I sat down with Mr. Pachachi and Chalabi and al-Hakim, people from different parts of the country that have made the firm commitment, that they want a constitution eventually written that recognizes minority rights and freedom of religion.

George W. Bush yesterday , Rose Garden press conference:

Q Thank you, Mr. President. Mr. Chalabi is an Iraqi leader that's fallen out of favor within your administration. I'm wondering if you feel that he provided any false information, or are you particularly --

THE PRESIDENT: Chalabi?

Q Yes, with Chalabi.

THE PRESIDENT: My meetings with him were very brief. I mean, I think I met with him at the State of the Union and just kind of working through the rope line, and he might have come with a group of leaders. But I haven't had any extensive conversations with him.
...

Q I guess I'm asking, do you feel like he misled your administration, in terms of what the expectations were going to be going into Iraq?

THE PRESIDENT: I don't remember anybody walking into my office saying, Chalabi says this is the way it's going to be in Iraq.

1. Who him? I think I met him once, didn't say anything to him
yeah, we've heard that song and dance before.

I just hope Chalabi isnt' getting the FULL treatment. You notice that Lay isn't in prison, or even charged with the crimes he committed.

The "Personal Responsibility" B.M.O.C. "barely knows Chalabi"....

hmmmm.."may have met him 'on a rope line'....."... Gee * was he with
"Mr.Lay"??...You know which Mr.Lay...the one who let you fly for free on his plane...the one who gave you millions of dollars... the one that you claimed was supporting Ann Richards.....

And somehow, that person whom you "barely", know, sits within a goosing range of sweet laura, in the VIP section of the State of the Union... How on earth did that man get there???

Personal responsibility..my ass...

and of course we must not forget how NOW evenrything to do with Iraq is somehow "Mr.Brahimi's" mission..

as our old pal arte would say....

"veddy interesssstink"

9. John Stewart Went Ballistic About This On TDS
Stewart reminds us that this slimeball sat behind Bunnypant's wife!!!!

Then goes on to suggest that using the term "ropeline" doesn't bring back good images...ala Lewinski.

Unlike Enron, which seems like light years ago...when this hurt some people but most of us weren't feeling it, and it was honeymoon time, I think that non-denial denial ain't gonna hunt this time for boy blunder.

1.) There's Chalabi at this year's damn SOTU!!! To hell with 16 words, here's a SPY...working for the country that called us the GREAT SATAN. Sheesh. Hope someone's already got the campaign ad storyboarded and shot!

2.) He's denied too many times, too many things are going wrong. It's one crisis into the next into the next and to those goofy Freepers who think things are gonna get better after June 30th, stay tuned...there are various groups loading up with Iranian arms...thanks to our friend Chalabi...who will have something to say about our puppet regime in Baghdad. Anyone remember when the Israeli's tried the same thing in Lebanon in 1982? Hmmm?

3.) Prices are just starting to go up...the bite has yet to hit. The ripple of this large run-up in fuel prices will mean higher rents and property taxes and groceries and anything that uses a truck, train or airplane to get to market. Inflation can't be held back...there are too many forces pushing, and with it interest rates will rise that will destroy any "recovery" that hasn't been sent to India.

Sorry, this regime is just about out of "get out of jail" cards. Damn if we could do something about January 19th pardons right now!

15. if we had a real news media, they'd be ALL OVER THIS
after all, it's the President of the United States, clearly caught in a lie.

That's news. AT least in the world I grew up in, before this strange parallel universe slipped into my reality, it would have been news.
