2 dimwits visit Gitmo -- Reps. Meeks/Gingrey - say it's just fine

they were on Washington Journal (c-span) this a.m.

didn't seem to do much other then take the tour and say how fine everyone was at Gitmo. and that the Red Cross was there talking to prisoners but that Meeks and Gingrey didn't talk to any.

Meeks did ask for Rummy to step down

and Gingrey said that Cuba wasn't attacking us at the moment so it was fine for Gitmo to be there.

Gingrey has been there twice.

are these just photo ops? a chance to play golf at Gitmo's course? looks good on the resume? and we are paying for this.

1. Did they expect the "real" interrogations to be held in their presence?
What idiots...."Duh, looks fine to me"...

You think any of them bothered to take a non-military related translator and have them privately ask some of Gitmos detainees hhow they are being treated?

2. That's what Warner and Rockefeller said about troop morale
Edited on Thu Jun-03-04 01:15 PM by lebkuchen
the summer before the Stripes' morale survey made headlines, stating that nearly 50% had planned to separate from the military at the earliest opportunity. We know those stats must be correct because of yesterday's extended stop-loss. No one's allowed even to retire! That tells you how many don't even want to make the army a career~!

¶ Noncommissioned officers predict problems in re-enlistment, although military leaders say enlistment rates historically drop after conflicts. Nearly half of the troops surveyed said they do not plan to re-enlist.

3. They are being shown what the military wants them to see
I suppose Germans taking a tour of Auschwitz would be convinced that it was a real efficient creamatorium.
