As I understand it, bush is seeking legal "advice" from an "outside" attorney, as opposed to an "in-house" attorney, so that what he said remains private by attorney-client privilege. An in-house attorney, being an employee of the government, would have to reveal any/all discussions with another government employee, including the president. From this alone, we can conclude that bush is not merely seeking legal advice: rather, he wants to keep secret from the federal grand jury that which he discusses with the said attorney. I'd say that things are catching up to bush. He's such a big fan of the bible -- maybe he will learn the meaning of you reap what you sow!

Rove/Cheney/Feith return to White House from the courthouse and somehow get word to Bush that they've talked about matters discussed in Bush's presence.
Bush goes to Gonzales: What do I do?
Gonzales: Don't talk to me about what you know! They can find out what we talked about ... get your own lawyer!

4. I recall WH collected all statements prior to grand jury. |
|
They were going to find everything out. Didn't do anything but collect everyone's statements that I recall. Now they'd know who said what and where any information would come from. Anyone saying different would be held to the prior statement making their grand jury statement suspect enough not to entangle Bush's possible statements.
