Woman Holding up Anti-War Poster in Airport Removed
http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/news/state/060304_APstate_aiportsign.html

A 57-year-old woman says she was ejected from a terminal at the Dallas-Fort Worth International airport after showing military recruits an anti-war campaign poster.

Carole Ward showed the recruits an 81/2-by-11 inch poster of a composite illustration of President Bush made up of the faces of soldiers who have died in Iraq. It bore the title "Faces of Death."

Some people found the poster offensive and the woman became belligerent with an American Airlines gate agent, according to Tim Wagner, a spokesman for the airline.

1. I have seen that and it is a truly outstanding work of art.

2. This is a tricky story to judge
I mean it's easy for me to imagine both her being largely innocent and the police swooping in on her, or her being a bit over the top and security escorting her away.

An airport is not a public space; and she had a captive audience. That might be smart planning, but it could also be offensive or just annoying..

Still, perhaps more info will come out.

3. Here's one
About a month ago I'm fishing with my 6 year old son and a plane flies down the river carrying a banner. The banner shows the image of an aborted fetus. It's flying about 300 feet above the river - apparently us trout fishermen are big pro-choicers.

How do I explain that to a 6 year old?

This happens in Pittsburgh every few months - some nutjobs will hang signs on the Parkway showing similar images. The police give them every ounce of respect free speech deserves.

I can imagine this woman may have gone overboard (like some pro-lifers do) and could have been screaming and raising a fuss, but if she wasn't doing that - she should be allowed to make her point.

4. That's a good one.
Usually, when we're driving up from San Diego, one of the "truth trucks" goes by, with graphic pictures of a bloody baby go by, allegedly from a abortion. Each time, my husband goes, "Can't someone do something about those?" I had to explain to my seven year-old that some people do not want Mothers to have life-saving procedures in tragic situations, and to ignore someone's attempts to scare/intimidate.

5. I'm not sure the Airport is the appropriate place to assault people
with truth. Especially from a Business perspective, I don't think they want people agitated and upset.
