Answer: You can't.

When are you planning on Moving to India to start a labor movement?
They have that covered, because then you would have to start one in Vietnam.

Check the slide show on the website listed below. And make sure to
tune into the Discovery Channel special tonight!

Good Luck.

2. The problem is that they want us to keep spending
at the present level, paying US prices on a third world paycheck.

It hasn't yet dawned on them that it's not going to work that way.

4. Basically, it's the Internet & computers that's the enabler?
Edited on Thu Jun-03-04 06:18 PM by Cronus
I'm not sure if that's what they're getting across. That's how I understood the article. However, making something possible isn't the cause, it's merely the opportunity.

I would take issue with the article's point (if I understand it right) on the grounds that someone with an open purse may enable a theft, but it doesn't make the action (the theft) right, nor does it cause the action.

I get people from India offering me cheap labor every time I run an ad to hire someone off Craig's list. I respond to them all with the same retort, "You must have mistaken me for a cheap-labor Republican". That usually surprises them, but that's the underlying cause for this transfer of jobs, IMHO, the cheap labor, not the Internet or the computers or anything else.

It's the desire for cheap labor, ever higher profits and a lack of commitment to promoting and hiring Americans. I yearn for the day when "Made in USA" is something we all support and promote once more.

8. It is somewhat slanted and misses the point..
Its main concern seems to be the investor. And although it mentions the consumer, its only in terms of buying cheaper products and completely misses the point that

1. if we don't have jobs it doesn't matter how cheap the goods are and
2. their new employees can't afford to buy their products, neither can we.

Although I suppose they could use cheaper products as a pretext to move on to other areas with lower wages, at which point possibly they could then sell their products to their former employees in India. For some reason that sounds like a real downward spiral.

9. Jobs reports
The last few jobs' reports have been hailed by the spinners in president Bush's campaign as a positive achievement. Not so, if we look at the facts. Those hard working Americans who lost their jobs in the first three years of this administration (3,000,000) who have now found work recently (600,000) are working for the most part for far less money and no benefits. If a worker making 50k per year plus health benefits losses his job and still needs to pay his bills and feed his family, he is forced to work two part time jobs. The jobs are far less challenging, together paying 40k per year, with no benefits. This worker knows he has just received a 20% pay cut and has no health insurance for his family. This example is repeated all too often throughout this country. No matter how hard the idiot in the white house, and his Dominion of spinners try to convince these poor souls that they are better off now that they have two jobs instead of one, they know the truth, because they live it. That's why the jobs numbers haven't translated to positive poll numbers in the general public.
