1. 2008
Riding on the coattails of Kerry's first term...though I don't have much hope for that term if we can't at least get the Senate by '06 -- there'll be too much Repug stonewalling to actually get anything accomplished.

2. 2004.
With the mess this House has made of things we probably won't get the whacko right but I see true conservatives, third party voters, and people who normally don't vote getting together to bring in some adults to fix things.

4. We need some anti-gerrymandering orders
I don't know how the federal government or state governments of any branch could do so exactly, but I know it's possible through some oridinances or something.

If you look at a bunch of the big states that are down the middle as far as they vote for statewide and presidential candidates yet have a big majority of republicans representing them compared to democrats in congress, it's clear the problem is gerrymandering. There are a couple states where dems clearly do it like Massachusetts and California but it's still a way bigger problem for us overall.

6. Until Democratic states like Illinois gerrymander as much as
Until Democratic states like Illinois gerrymander as much as Texas, Republicans aren't going to be interested in moving to a better system.

5. It's going to be tough
We're not used to this, but we had better learn quickly. We're at a huge disadvantage in the think-tank/policy creation department, and we have a big deficit in media capital as well.
