7. If he had fired Tenet, he could have said that.
The Prez said that he resigned, and Tenet himself gave his resignation speech. W can't use this to his advantage, not in my opinion. (I'm not saying that he wasn't fired, I would bet that his resignation was indeed requested. But the resignation story is already out there.)

21. If Bush gets rid of his people, he'll come out smelling like a stinkweed

because he hired them! Indeed, I think the reason why Bush didn't "officially" fire Tenet is out of fear that it would look like he should have percieved Tenent's "incompetence" earlier. Then again, maybe Bush DID perceive it--unless he developed his Office Of Special Plans for "personal" reasons of his own (like putting Poppy in charge). Not that it did any good--OSP's intelligence turned out to be just as faulty!

P.S. Is it true that Bush Sr. promised to "fire congress" if he were re-elected?

13. Not if they threaten to kill his entire family.
All they have to do is kidnap them, put them in a plane and crash it.

He said he resigned for the "well-being" of his family - thought that was weird....

Not if they threaten to kill his entire family

Who is "they"? When dirty work needs doing, who does it?... the SPOOKS. It's the spooks that organize and carry out the "disappearings" and "accidents"... Tenet is/was Head Spook. There is no "disappearance", "accident" or other assorted atrocities so nasty that it would make all our toes curl (and we wouldn't even begin to imagine) that the Head Spook isn't aware of. This is one dude that BushCo should never have assumed was their loyal serf to be ground beneath their wingtips. There is no higher power then a country's spooks... that's why you don't piss them off. I assumed there would be major backlash from Tenet when they flicked the first public booger at him.

As for Tenet's comment about the "well-being" of his family... me thinks that has more to do with him staying out of prison (Cut bait and cut a deal, and get a Stay Out of Jail Free card).

19. CIA is like a brotherhood
Tenent may not directly pass stuff along for the 'well being ' of his family but could be some of the loyal underlings will to it for him. CIA is still pissed about the Plame affair.

8. That's the marketing strategy, but he's used it too often
He's tried to erase the Abu Ghrab scandal by changing its name. He's also claiming that he's had only a few brief meetings with Chalabi a couple. His deflect the blame game is played out. Fool us twice, shame on us.

11. My guess is that shrub will continue to throw bodies
overboard as his fortunes decline. Powell, Rice and Rumsfeld have already announced that they are leaving at the end of the year. Shrub will continue to sacrifice his own people in the hope that it will save his ass. We really should organize a pool: Who will be the next castaway.

16. The emperor's clothes are unraveling at the seams
Who within the CIA is seething at the blame they must shoulder because of the incompetence and belligerence of bush? Who at the CIA is loyal to Tenet for their own reasons? And who at the CIA is getting ready to say, F*ck it, I'm gonna "accidentally" leave some very damaging evidence that will take care of bush and his maladministration once and for all.

Who in the CIA has the balls to take on bushco?
