Poll question: Do you really care about democracy right now?
It seems it's just too much bother for some.

1. Question is ambiguous, given current events.
Do you mean do I care about democracy in Iraq or do you mean do I care about democracy in the USA?

2. Yes, but I've been pretty lazy about researching Chavez
Edited on Thu Jun-03-04 11:38 PM by jpgray
All I know from articles I've read are the broad outlines of his story--the evil private-sector coup-engineering opposition, and the strong upstanding power-to-the-people Chavez. How accurate is that? I have no clue.

which is why when 3% of the population tells 50% what to do or they will help Bush get re-elected even as they are clear he is the worst thing ever to happen to the nation, I have to question their sincerity in the matter.

4. I am a Democrat only because I am a democrat.
As a democrat I believe we should let the Iraqi people write their constitution, not impose one on them. As a democrat I believe that universal suffrage is the only way to make a new government legitimate in Iraq. As a democrat the only legitimate American President is one elected by the people, not by an electoral college. And as a democrat I believe states should elect the same number of Senators as they do Representatives. I believe that the U.S. territories and D.C. should be able to elect a number of voting Representatives to the House based on their population size. Most importantly I believe that the Vice President, members of the FEC, and the FCC should all be elected to these positions by the people.
