1. By offering more money to recruits...

If they offered a lot of cash up front, they would have many more recruits...

40,000 easy...especially if Iraq was under control.

3. Well, at least our imperalist Army will be well-paid...
Screw Kerry's view of the NWO, I'm really at odds with him on this one. Every day I keep thinking about the great "Who" lyric, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...."

9. We have one, but they're off fighting proxy wars...

Recall the troops Iraq, Latin America, hell Europe too, and there's the army. There are troops, but we just need to manage them better.

The biggest mistake that Rummy, et al, made was abandoning the "two-fronts" doctrine, but hey, we sure as hell don't have the cash to pay for it. And if we don't go picking and making up fights, we won't have to worry about fighting on two fronts.

5. If we don't get out of Iraq alright it's going to take a LOT of money.
Scrubbing missle defense would be a very smart move though.

7. from what i've heard...
that's not necessarily a "brand new" 40K for combat troops, but using paper-pushers and others similarly situated who are already in the military in other roles.

i could be wrong though...

8. aw cripes
not this shit again.

These are not ADDITIONAL troops. He wants to replace 40,000 troops that are already there and overextended. It's not an escalation in the total number of troops there.

10. I think Kerry will pull us out of Iraq when he get's in office
On this issue I was against the war in Iraq. I was for getting the UN involved and gradually pulling out. Now it's so fucked up because of the Bush Crime Family, that I'm afraid there's no way we could rebuild the nation.
