Clinton likes Poppy Bush
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040604/us_nm/people_clinton_dc_8

Clinton, whose presidency was bracketed by George H.W. Bush the father and George W. Bush the son, said he liked Bush senior although they had their disagreements.

He offered muted criticism of his successor.

"If you go back and read what (Bush) said in the campaign, he's just doing what he'd said he'd do. You've got to give him credit for that... No one has the whole truth," Clinton said.

Reckon Clinton is far easier on the Bushes than DU is.

1. And I bet that annoys both Bushes...
The Old Man & his Harpy Wife would much rather retain their waspish chill. But Bill comes up to them & smiles & starts chatting. Even at his lowest, he's always maintained his spirits. Ignoring the fact that much of the mud slung at him was the work of The Old Man, Clinton will look him in the eye & let him know he's doing fine.

And Bush Jr must feel really low. Compared to Clinton, he's a miserable failure as president. He's even a failure compared to his Old Man--who actually managed to get elected once. There's really no need for Clinton to point this out; it's obvious.

2. And Clinton, though a FAR FAR better President than Bush...
...has shown similiarly unwise choices in regard to his ability to judge character.

3. Lots of people in York County know him and like him.
He and Barbara are likable people but most do not vote for him.

4. They remind me of Al Pacino in "The Devil's Advocate".
They can morph to fit the situation but Satan, his bride and his spawn are always underneath.

5. Clinton is a class act. He can separate the political from the personal.

Look, he honestly likes the old fool. It's his choice and I'm not going to impose my opinion on someone else.
