"Fahrenheit 9/11" DVD expected in August or September
From the Digital Bits, a DVD news website:

Speaking of Lions Gate, you may be interested to know that the studio has reached an agreement with Miramax's Harvey and Bob Weinstein to distribute Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 in theaters on June 25. IFC Films will also participate. Look for Lions Gate to release the film on DVD in August or September.

Typically, the DVD for a new movie is not released 'til several months after the movie has hit theaters. This is done, I presume, to wring every last dollar out of the theatrical release (including, for example, a run at bargain or dollar cinemas) and also to give the studio time to prepare the transfer and extras for the DVD. Nevertheless, there are exceptions: if I recall correctly, From Justin To Kelly hit DVD mere weeks after bombing in theaters. Another exception, though not related to a theatrical film, was the recent DVD release of the "Friends" final episode a few days after it aired.

2. no, I think its to get the movie out into the public
so we can have house parties and invite our fellow republicans over for a viewing. Lion gate is likely wanting to make as much dough as possible but Moore wants the message of his film out there

4. A very notable exception from the pre-DVD days...
The first Superman movie was released to the theaters and to VHS video tape on the very same day.
