The Greenfleet Tree Totaler . . . how many trees do you owe? . . .
this is a pretty interesting exercise from an Australian environmental group called Greenfleet . . . you can calculate your annual emissions from vehicular, household, and flight sources, and the number of trees needed to offset them . . . you can actually sign up to contribute if you like, and they'll plant the trees for you . . . in Australia, of course . . .

2. I'll plant one for you - which do you prefer - Jacaranda or Pawpaw?

Really. I'm sprouting some seedlings to plant on my property. I owe 37, and I have open space for more. Every once in a while as it grows, I'll say "that's OneBlueSky's tree".

3. It will take me awhile to count the number of trees and bushes
I've planted but my favorite are 3 Blue Spruce that were 3 feet tall when planted and now 23 years later they are maybe 30 feet

4. I have leftover trees!
We have more than 33 trees, which is what the quiz said we used up in "tonnes". So, I figure I'm ahead of the game! Our trees are MONDO big! Must have 50 of them on the property.. yay! I'm not a total polluter!

7. I owe one tree. What does this mean?
I've got about four or five trees in my yard. Do I have to plant another one every year, or will one of these trees pay my debt?

8. Plant one every year, just to be sure. If you don't have room in your -
yard, find a playground or park that needs one and ask the local parks department about donating one.

Or I'll just plant one here for you. Which do you prefer - Jacaranda or Pawpaw?

9. My family owes 46 trees

In our proper yard, we have 6 LARGE oaks, 4 large sweet gums and numerous baby sweet gums, 8 pines, a couple of maples, 5 elms, and 10 poplars as a wind break. The sweetgums multiply like rabbits. You can't even see our house for all the trees. Then the back of our property is all woods - we never cleared any of it. Think we have more than enough trees in our yard to cover our emmissions.
