We should focus on stem cell research when Reagan dies
When the Republicans eulogize their hero, it's our moment to put Nancy in the spotlight. We need to tell people about Ron's years of suffering, and how stem cell research could have helped him, how millions of people suffer because the right wing controls our scientific investigations.

If they intend to use Reagan against us, let's use him against them.

Let's remind America that every Alzheimer's victim, every child born with a birth defect, could be helped... but Republicans won't let it happen.

2. It will be an uncomfortable silence
for chimpy as he tries to pretend the issue does not have a new spotlight.

This could be the new wedge issue for the November election.

3. My first response was :good one, but upon reflect. , I said no: treat him
with this technology and it will prove to all it`s value. I don`t have a TV and haven`t been reading Newspapers. President Reagan had a lot of good in him I think, though I never agreed with his politics I am saddened to learn he is dieing. My Mother died from what was apparently Alzheimer's Disease and I would never wish it on anyone. Well perhaps I could make a few exceptions there, this would not include former President Reagan. ...Oscar

4. Great idea! No sense in waiting though.
Let's push the issue into the forefront right now. The subtle message of Reagan's illness, and how reasonable medical research could have helped him, will speak for itself. While we're at it, we can talk about how Bush Jr. lied about stem cell research and the availability of existing cells.

5. How should we go about doing this?
What steps should we take?

Letters to the editor?

What else?

Let's get organized and get on it.

6. I think this is a great idea
Nancy has been behind stem-cell research and everyone knows Chimpy's stance against it.

This would be a good time to focus attention on the benefits of stem cell research AND to distance Dubya from Reagan (b/c you KNOW he's going to be trying to suck up a lot of that good-will from Reagan-lovers for himself).
