A Poem for President Ronald Reagan.............by Mo Paul
O' how they cried when Reagan died,
He was their idol, and their pride,
with leering Nancy at his side,
he brushed the homeless poor aside.

How they lamented at his passing,
their pompous hollow grief amassing,
he flooded crack into L.A.,
and sold Saddam his gas for gassing.

O' how they'll howl the day he dies,
and stretch the truth with his demise,
and fill headlines with bullshit lies,
and shout 'Hail Reagan' to the skies.

Mount Rushmore they will blast to space,
and carve upon it Ronnie's face,
a mega-monument to disgrace,
that time and justice will erase.

..........sorry reaganites, we feel your pain..........

1. May I...?
Worms and maggots will attest
that this corpse they'll not digest,
for with this corpse there is a guest
of massive wrongdoing, manifest.

His fitting legacy will be bestowed
And bards record as their final ode
As Ronnie passes into worm-food mode
And his diapers fail to catch his final steaming load

14. look - is Ronnie going to read this - will it have any effect on him?
Of course not, lighten' up...

But I will say this, if you really want to honor Reagan's legacy then support stem cell research! That would have more value than coming into some interent message board and puffing yourself up to strut around like some righteous peacock!

16. He was a very stupid, destructive man...
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 02:58 PM by mitchum
I take no pleasure in his impending demise, but I'm not very broken up about it either.

Remember: Thanks to his policies, tens of thousands of Americans had to deal with their dementia while living on the streets. While HE was afforded the best care YOUR money can buy. That fact tempers my pity a great deal.

20. Truly sad.
It's truly sad to see people "celebrate" someone death. So,when will the move on ad come out, about this? When Jimmy time is up.Would y'all be mad about the right 'celebrate' his death? Will y'all be mad about the Iranian dancing in the street's of Tehran, over Jimmy death?

I will not do the same as was done on this site today. I wont celebrate the deaths of people I diss like. I know,I may be banned because of this. But oh well. The left say's we are the party of human rights, such as 'freedom of speech'. But as soon,as someone
replys with they like Bush, you banned them. Or if they have another point of view, that is inline with the right. Y'all banned them.

21. I'm not sure if you were addressing me with your post, but . .

If someone gains political power and then uses it to hurt others who are poorer and weaker than they are . . then you can expect people to defile his legacy when he dies.

That's the price of playing the political game and using your power against others when you are alive.

PS Welcome to DU. I welcome your opinion - although I do disagree with you.

18. But really, take a deep breath . .
Is it possible that people are reacting to:

1) 20 plus years of repukes trying to beatify Reagan - despite his terrible failures as president.

2) And they're still trying to name every damned new school, highway and airport after his Godliness.

3) Iran Contra? BCCI? Savings and Loan? the list goes on.

4) During the last three years of his term he was completely demented. He should have been encouraged to step down for the good of the nation. Instead, they found out that they could run things better with a figurehead anyway. GWB* is really his legacy in that regard.

I think that poem is great. Get ready for a huge national televised mourning extravaganza, all designed to implicitly show America how Republican we all are in our grief.

In fact I'm quite suspicious of this timing. Is his nursing staff on Rove's payroll? Just wondering.

19. Cruel.
The man was terrible, and stupid, and easily mislead as a puppet - but the disease that is killing him is dreadful - I'm sure that those who care for him welcome the end with very torn feelings. If you have ever had to put a pet down, I'm sure you can relate.

To take pleasure in such an end as a complete outsider seems beyond petty; I'd liken it to hoping one of the Bush children die of a breast tumor.

Really the sort of stuff the oppposition loves to quote to BTW.

Hateful
