When are Texans finally going to disown Bush?
Sorry if this seems like a simplistic topic or if it has been covered before.

I'm not from Texas, although I lived in Houston for almost a year recently. One thing I've noticed is the almost nationalistic pride Texans have about Texas' rich history and traditions.

So the widespread acceptance of Bush's painted-on "Texanism" is confusing to me. The ranch, the pickup trucks, the cowboy hats...they are all nothing but action figure accessories. The guy is a New England blueblood like the rest of his family.

When will Texans besides Molly Ivins call this idiot out and make it clear that he's not a Texan?

1. I want to know...
What happened to all the cool, easy-going, "live and let live" Texans that there used to be there? The ones that used to make me think that Texas was the coolest place on earth.

Damn place acts like it needs Seroquel in its water supply now.

4. Willy Nelson and Jim Hightower are people who define the real Texas
* is just a carpetbagger. Yet Kerry has the same background as * and * is allowed to be friendlier to the working man in the eyes of the media.

3. Did you see that Economist
article on the states with a lower collective IQ all voted for Bush. Although Texas wasn't in the bottom 10, it was still pretty far down there.

They don't breed um too smart here. Really.

6. That's what's so confusing about it to me...
He's so damn phony. I always was under the impression that Texans could sniff out a faker from a mile away.
