The networks have stopped everything!
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 04:00 PM by Cascadian
ABC, NBC, CBS, all of them. Halted all programming right now because Reagan died. I wonder if this is the way it's going to be the entire day? Most likely.

10. Yes, and he was legitimately elected regardless of what
those of us who didn't vote for him thought, we had to accept the fact that he was our elected President, unlike our uncrowned King George today.

just in the interest of accuracy. . . .

Ferehnheit 9/11 and Clinton book comes out so that they will get all of the attention.

4. The whole entire week, at least until the
funeral.

I won't be watching television. It's going to
be nothing but an overly-sentimental pukefest.

7. I'll keep the TV off
My condolences to his family. I would never rejoice in the death of someone.

But I'm not going to celebrate his life by watching many hours of network coverage that will fawn all over The Gipper.

No thanks.

When John junior died, everything stopped as well...it's decorum and is appropriate.

15. Such a rational post!
Does anyone really think they wouldn't cover it? Actually I think there will probably be a round of new books coming out about Iran/Contra and all the other immoral acts by Raygun, now that he's dead. I bet a lot of folks were waiting for him to kick out of "respect" for him.

That's what happened after Nixon died...it took a while but the tapes are out and pretty damning of that drunken lout.

I am just flipping through the channels right now. It is not like 9/11 though but still considering it is big news that a former president dies but I was honestly fearing an onslaught of media coddling and glorifying.

Will they even have it today, now? They might postpone the Preakness.

Challenger deaths (for a photo/radio op), Marines killed in Beruit, arms for hostages, drugs in LA, delays in AIDS research, historic deficits, historic interest rates, historic inflation, arming Saddam. What a legacy!

for 2 weeks. I remember when Nixon died. It was RIDICULOUS how they went on and on for weeks. The man was a damn CROOK and disgraced our country! :eyes: I for one, will just watch movies for 2 weeks. Maybe C-SPAN won't be as bad as the networks?
