When Clinton Dies...
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 04:05 PM by zls44
I agree with those who say we should be acting with class right now. I disliked Reagan's policies as much as everyone else, but death is death.

Let's show the class that we complain about not seeing.

And let us see if we get the same response when the Big Dog passes on...

4. When Clinton Dies The World Will Weep
Reagan's death will bother the old hard line right, but not much more than that. When William Jefferson Clinton passes away the world will have lost a leader and a statesman.

5. Sorry if my bitterness is showing, but I still remember...
some of my dear elementary school classmates cheering and applauding the assassination of John Kennedy. I sat there stunned when our teacher told us of the news, while those POS idiots went on and on ,and she did nothing to stop them. When the RW silences it's hatemongers voluntarily and starts thinking for themselves, I MAY reconsider, but I have an extremely vivid memory.

6. Wow...that's horrific.
I can't imagine anyone doing that. When Raygun was shot I remember feeling sorry for him. Why would children cheer the death of their President?

8. All those assholes could think of was that the damned yankee was dead...
and now we were going to have a real Texan President, Oh woo hoo! I lose the ability to be rational when I think about it, so cannot offer anything even remotely reasonable in terms of Reagan. It is an awful disease and it is devstating for the family; for that, as I would be for any one else, I am sorry. On the other hand, he was a liar, a puppet, a mass murderer (as far as I am concerned), and the world is better for his passing. Hey Ronnie, RIH!

7. When I read your post . .
. . the first thing that occurred to me was - Where did this guy go to school, Texas?

Sure, nuf.

In that same vein, I remember going to see "2001" at a huge classy theater in downtown Houston back in the sixties. During the first scenes, when the apes were crashing the bones and discovering the use of weapons, some woman yelled out "You better be careful, Uncle George is comin' to get you". Which got a huge rise from the audience who started laughing and clapping.

:eyes:

(For you youngsters, the reference was to George Wallace who was defying the Federal government's orders to desegregate the schools of Alabama at the time.)

9. You got it! Nacogdoches, Texas...Raguet Elementary School...
Having a near perfect memory is a curse, not a blessing! The real irony is that one of the loudest cheers came from a guy that is currently involved in Texas state politics. You should be so damned proud, John!

10. Where does that come from?
There's something about that blustering meanness that is so typical of Texas. Just like Bush's mocking of Carla Faye Tucker after he had executed her.

Bush* is making the world hate America - and America is learning to hate Texans. Unfortunately, like all prejudices, they are misplaced. Both places have many good people. During the next election the people of America have to prove it by kicking Bush's* ass. Then we can start concentrating on helping you guys rehabilitate Texas.

(I lived in Texas until I was 15.)

12. I think that part of the meanness comes from...
a postmodern display of the 'frontier spirit' that they try and convince themselves is still a part of their everyday life, much like the faux cowboy mantra that many of them espouse. As far as the political part of it goes, much of it is related to the fact that their moronic parents continue to indoctrinate their children into the Civil War mindset. The 'war of northern aggression' has never ended here. Quite frankly, I have to admit that I am not a native. I did come to Texas at an early age (3 and a half), but was never accepted by my peers, and in retrospect, I am not sorry for that. I went to the northeast in 1969 and came back to TX in 1990, largely because my father still lived here. I am only here long enough to finish my Ph.D. and then I'm probably outta here (unless, of course, some college or university here is stupid enough to hire me at an outrageous salary). :hippie:
