Reagan blasts Bush
As Bush exploits Reagan's death (and you know he will) remember these quotes from his son...

"My father crapped bigger ones than George Bush," says the former president's son, in a flame-throwing conversation about the war and the Bush administration's efforts to lay claim to the Reagan legacy.

April 14, 2003 | The Bush inner circle would like to think of George W.'s presidency as more of an extension of Ronald Reagan's than of his one-term father's. Reagan himself, who has long suffered from Alzheimer's disease, is unable to comment on those who lay claim to his political legacy. But his son, Ron Jr., is -- and he's not pleased with the association.

"The Bush people have no right to speak for my father, particularly because of the position he's in now," he said during a recent interview with Salon. "Yes, some of the current policies are an extension of the '80s. But the overall thrust of this administration is not my father's -- these people are overly reaching, overly aggressive, overly secretive, and just plain corrupt. I don't trust these people."

2. nancy did not trust them
she may have been a bitch but she did everything she could to protect him..i can`t wait to see what she says if she can-she`s almost dead herself-she won`t go on now that ronnie is gone. for all the shit that everyone is going to say on both sides the one truth is that they were deeply in love with each other..not like the current couple in the whitehouse

16. The Bush's were rotten to the Reagans
The Bush family always thought they were "entitled" to the presidency, because they were "aristocrats", and were open in their sneering look-down on the Reagans, who had "achieved" the Presidency. They were very hurtful towards Mrs Reagan, Barbara in particular, who was simply a vicious ogress.

There is a LOT of history yet to be written, and much of it involves stuff going on behind the scenes of the Reagan presidency that has not yet been revealed. I guarantee you -- when it comes out, it is going to change a lot of people's opinions about Mrs Reagan. She is very poorly known and little understood, and did not deserve the villification she received. She is going to be found out to have been a larger player in events, and to have been a positive force in more ways than people may imagine. She had to tackle some powerful enemies who had hijacked her ailing husband's presidency to advance their own dark agendas-- many of whom are now in open positions of power --- and was merely crucified in the media for it. Much of the "bitch" stuff comes from that, a smear campaign from *within* the WH-- but hey, if sticking up for one's ailing husband, and fighting SOBs makes you a "bitch", there's no shame in being a "bitch" when you have to be!

Besides the ordeal of watching her husband endure this horrific illness, Mrs Reagan saw a criminally-minded idiot fratboy attempt to usurp the iconic status her husband had achieved during his life. The animousity between the families goes on -- George W has never ever once paid respect to Reagan in his speeches. This hurts -- and its meant to.

There is deep division in the Republican party -- between "traditional" conservatives, who revere Reagan, and the radical extremists, who worship Bush. If those stinking Bushistas try to hijack the Gipper's funeral to benefit the sorry ass of George W-- Nancy is going nuclear, and the traditional Republicans may try to use the occasion of Reagan's passing as a rallying point to return to their traditional values, and toss out the wacko extremists who have brought our nation to disaster and disgrace.

4. If the Repugs
are so shameless as to politicize the death of Reagan I doubt his family will be quite so please.

Over the past 3 years I have been known to utter the words "I miss Reagan." Seriously, Bush is so much worse. I have friends who miss Nixon, too. Bush is the worst. Worst president in my lifetime.

8. I miss Reagan & Nixon
I would rather have either of them than that evil monster who is squatting in the Whitehouse now.

7. What charisma?
Reagan admittedly had charisma, regardless of your opinion of him.

Dubya, on the other hand has as much charisma as Coolidge and Nixon. Meaning almost none.

I think Reagan and Clinton match better as far as charisma goes.

9. Yeah,he really is.....
I've seen him several times on the tube including SNL. I know he disagreed with many things his father did while Pres. I sure he's a Republican, maybe not.. but you can tell by listening to him and his tone that he's a decent guy and has his head screwed on right.

I'm betting he'd make a good politician even if he's on the other side of the isle.

13. I always saw him as leaning left
But didn't want to offend his father, I guess.

I can understand that.

I wish Ron Reagan would run for Congress as a Democrat against a Republican incumbent, but apparently he has no interest in public office.

15. From last year and worth re-reading and passing it along again
I was just talking about Ron Jr. at work on Thursday after seeing/hearing him to a dog show on Animal Planet.

He's A-OK in my book. All-around good guy. I'm sorry he lost his father.
