It's too early. By the time the buzz from all this wears off it will be time for the Clinton book roll out and the Moore movie. Bush can't string two sentences together to save his life and nothing he says at the funeral will be remembered. Even if he gets a bounce, it won't last, it will all be artificial. Nor do I see Nancy and the Reagans going along with a highly politicized funeral or memorial service. Don't worry about it. Making snide or hateful remarks is just a stupid and insenitive thing to do right now. I lost my own gradmother to this horrible disease and it has a terrible corrosive effect on entire families that I would not wish upon anyone.

2. If Reagan had been active, like Dole, then it may have made a difference..
If he were out there speaking and playing the role of popular ex-President, he would have been more in the public consciousness.

The hard core GOPers my dwell on this, but I would guess that the average guy will get up to to to work on Monday and this won't be the first thing on his/her mind...

3. agreed
There will be a brief flurry of political masturbation on the right and renewed calls for Reagan monuments etc but it is not exactly unexpected and will dies down in a matter of days. Besides Regan (as much as I detested his Presidency) was a moderate compared to the fascists and theocrats that infest the GOP today so they are not going to blow that horn too loudly for fear of showing just how far to the right they have drifted since Reagan.

4. Someone who was president twenty years ago died today
He was a husband and a father. The family mourns their loss and they have my sympathy.
