but the fact that the MX just plain and simple doesn't work (check post deployment test flight data) is worse. I suppose the best option is to scatter them around and hope an enemy wastes his own missiles on those useless MX's of ours.
I was in the Defense Industry when Rayguns was prez and it was squander, squander, squander. Worst of all the money was squandered on high ticket items, items heavy on materials costs and relatively light on labor costs. (Many of these systems were unnecessary, never worked well or were just plain bad ideas. They were pretty much all over budget and late.) By the time the first Bush took over I had already seen a lot of contraction.
Most of the extra defense spending amounted to short term payback to a chosen few and the industry as a whole suffered even in the medium term. You know, like now.
