About time that welfare queen Raygun gets off the public dole.
The only unfortunate thing that I see is that Raygun didn't get a chance to feel the effects that his policies had on health care and mental health.

He and his family should have been forced to endure the crappy health system that he and his Republican party have oppressed the American people with. I have no empathy for him or his family. I constantly see Nancy on some podium talking about how bad off Ronnie is and how hard it is for her and the kids. Well, I'm sorry, But they have the best care that money can buy with no financial worries on how to provide that care.

Hey Nancy, You think that's tough? Try dealing with Alzheimer when you're poor. You don't have a clue what a hard situation your husband and your party have put millions of good hard working American people in. I guess that it's all about you and your needs, screw everyone else. How typically republican of you.

I am not too young nor have I forgotten what Rayguns' presidency was all about. That is why I can't muster any empathy for a callous and criminal soul like his. May he get what he deserves.

3. I am old enough to remember Pre-Ray-Gun America
stuff like real health insurance where you went to your own doctor...being able to live on a secretary's salary...

Real student-aid financial packages to help the working class go to college...

Per mitchum, my eyes are dry.

5. Me, too.
I read his post and think of the truck driver my sister knows. His wife has Alzheimer's. The only way to get her into the nursing home is to give up his house. The person taking care of her is her 85 yo father. My heart breaks thinking of them. :(

that was going to afflict working Americans up until now, with a brief respite, thanks to Clinton.

I remember his administration trying to dismantle Pell grants. And the AIDS crisis, the NOTHING he did, since it was "killing all the right people."

13. Yes, he was the architect.
I think his death should be shouted from the rooftops, but educating the young ones and freepers about what resulted from his policies should be our #1 priority right now. We don't owe him a damn thing.

14. There are millions of nightmare health care stories in America.
I work in the mental health field. I see it every day. There are so many stories like that truck driver out there, and it just breaks your heart.

People can be really amazing, considering the amount of hardship that their hearts make them endure.

24. They use religion for political gain.
If the majority were muslim, then they would paint themselves as devout muslims. Meanwhile they rob the public treasury.

6. I certainly agree
with this. There are millions probably who have had to cope with this without ANY money to help at all.

Reagan had everything re health care that was available and Nancy had all the help she needed. She, I am sure, never had to spend 24 hours a day coping with this. I am certain of that. They had aides and home health workers who did most of the work--much the same as having a nanny to take care of the kiddies.

Not to take away from the skills of the home health workers.

I am certain that Nancy did NOT lose a night's sleep at all and was NOT put upon at all or had her life interfered with in any way. There was someone else there, paid to take that burden off of her.

It could not have been the same burden that the poor must cope with .

Too bad Raygun's death will help the GOP in November. That's the only downside.

Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 08:26 PM by Liberal_Guerilla
But left millions of Americans to live a life or die a death with little to no dignity. We could not get a doctor to come out to our house twice a day. It must have been quite nice for him to have had his whole period of decompensation done in his home, as opposed to some low rent abusive nursing home.

How can we possibly feel sorry for a man like that?

21. I think your thread is brilliant, LG.
Alot of reminescing going on today, but not many of the thread focus on this major issue.

Raygun screwed with medical research, anything having to do with AIDS, mental health funding for treatment and research, and left us all to deal with the massive problems.

He created the current insurance system which has become an oppressor for most and relief for some. It is a broken system which is burdening our economy by putting all of the burden on business to provide for health care.

That is one of the major reasons for out sourcing jobs in this country. They often go to country's that have some sort of a single payer socialized medicine system. No one has ever brought up this issue. The issue of what a burden it is for our economy to force work places to provide all of the health care in this nation.

:toast: :hi: :toast:

Yet, I'm willing to bet, that while so many here on DU decry the loss of jobs, and blame it on Bumya, most will NOT support single payer Universal Health Care.

On and on it goes........

Kanary, humming... "I just had my brain washed, and now I can't do a thing with it......"

It amazes me what the surviving family is often capable of enduring. I admire your strength, and it gives me hope that humnaity at the core is filled with unbound compassion and love.

Too bad that Raygun never got a chance to find his core.

26. Thank-you. That was brilliantly said.
While I personally have not dealt with the results of Alzheimer's, I do understand how devastating it can be on a family in terms of time, money, and most of all sorrow.

Because of Reagan and his policies, people suffered and they continue to suffer. Sorry, but I can't spend a lot of my beautiful mind or my time feeling bad for a pampered Nazi wreath laying asshole who did more to hurt people than help.
