Good Riddance! Reagan, creator of Bin Laden, Saddam and Noriega
Reagan, who stole the election in 1979 by keeping hostages in Iran longer, who drove the national debt to record highs, who wished death to Aids victims, who created Saddam, Osama and Noriega, who invaded defenseless Latin American countries, who was a lousy actor but outshone Laurence Olivier with unforgettable performances after he took office, Reagan is dead.

I say GOOD RIDDANCE. And I'm jubilant he's gone today rather than 4 months from now, when he could help Bush get 'reelected'. Even though I understand Nancy Reagan can't stand the Bushies, like the rest of us.

2. He was dead years ago. That's Alzheimers.
John Adams was still lucid at 91, when he died, so I think of him as the longest lived American president. You are right about much here, but I am not jubilant. I never felt we would be silenced in a Reagan administration; I feel that now. Enjoy your jubilation, but he was better than this hate-filled crew we have in office and preaching to us on the airwaves now. Not saying much, I know, but like you say, even the hated Nancy Reagan has better judgment than these folks. So, I say, RIP, and I will save my celebrating for a more positive moment.

4. An interesting point.
In some ways Shrub is closer to Raygun II than Bush II.
Driving home and putting the stopper in the damage started
by Raygun.

5. shameful
It's threads like this that make me not want to ever come back here and associate with this crowd. It's shameful, inappropriate vitriol and dancing on the grave of one of our former presidents.

6. buh bye, doof
you'll be missed almost as much of your hero

I'm in the midst of Richard Clarke's VERY excellent book, the chapter which goes into the genesis of Al Qaeda, beginning with, according to him, Reagan's asinine venture into Lebanon, which made it clear to budding Islamic terra groups that they could attack a super power with IMPUNITY (Reagan did NOTHING in response to the barrack bombing, aside from Granada, and leaving Lebanon, tail tween legs).

they then applied this formula in Afghanistan, thinking, HEY, we can topple an entire super power's government, too!

from that point on, the story has become one we read about every day

seminal chapter

Really idiotic move, that, going into Lebanon

completely unnecessary, and we pay the consequences
