How to fight the Rethug politicization of Reagan's death. Make it backfire
Let the "Wellstone will rot in hell" freepers, whine about the folks here who are being slightly tactless about Reagan's demise. What I'm talking about is a possible way to neutralize the inevitable GOP and Rove slimbalism which will be using the death of an old man to politically benefit their sorry excuse of a sack of shit candidate. There's no need to disrespect Reagan's family or anyone else.

First of all, we should let the whores have their Reagan love fest since they're going to do it anyway and raging about it plays into the GOP's hands.

Reagan's not running for anything, so letting them gush about him does nothing to help the GOP in and of itself. The trick is to stop the Repigs from channeling the love onto Chimp's sorry ass.

Every time one of Chimp's sycophants tries to say how Chimp is going to continue Reagan's vision or some shit like that our people should say, "Unfortunately, Bush doesn't live up to or posses or resemble, etc. Reagan's (insert nice thing to stay about Reagan here)

"George bush's doesn't have an ounce of Reagan's character."

"Even Democrats couldn't help but respect Reagan. Every day George Bush proves he can't possibly live up to Reagan's talent."

"Unlike George W. Bush, Reagan cared about the working people. George Bush lives to help his rich campaign donors at the expense of everyone else."

Yeah, I know this is a tough pill to swallow. But, played right, ol' Raygun's demise can be a big zero for chimp, and maybe even a slight plus for us.

2. Kerry has already swallowed the pill.
I hope it doesn't make the rest of us throw up.

I predicted in my earlier post that Kerry will co-opt the Reagan legacy and this is exactly the sort of thing I am envisioning.

3. Its OBVIOUS - Reagan = Wellstone
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 11:44 PM by nu_duer
POLITICALLY - We have a GOLDEN opportunity to equate Wellstone with Reagan.

Every time Reagan is mentioned in an attack on a Democrat, the response should contain Wellsone's name.

Reagan = Wellstone in stature and significance and remember the repuke comments about this patriot's wake.

Every time you hear "Reagan" as a defense of boy wonder or his gang, every time you hear "Reagan" in an attack on a Dem, Every time you hear "Reagan" - respond with "Wellstone."

Eventually, they'll not dare bring up Reagan because it would guarantee Wellstone would be brought up.

See what I mean?

Very doable, imho.

4. You have a point.
Ronald Reagan, wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He remembered what it was like to work hard.

6. I like your thinking.
This would make most interesting reading I think. People will be rather surprised with deep and breadth of content (or lack thereof).

7. Yes indeed!
A brilliant idea!

I was thinking that earlier. If the Dem leaders come out and say "WOW! Reagan was so awesome, let's have all his records so we can really give him his proper role in history!" Well, not quite so sarcastically, but you know what i mean.

I think it would be excellent!
