The main thing I remember about RR |
|
Is in 1967 you could sit in a bar in California (if it had a curtain inside the door) and be served a beer by a topless female bartender without any hassle. No buy a t-shirt, buy me some Siagon tea, no lap dances. Just have a beer and enjoy the view.
His big acts for the State as Govenor? It became, if there was nudity, you had to drink juice.
That and the opulent Governors mansion he had built to Nancy's taste, that Governor Brown refused to live in when he was elected.
Can't you see it ??? Al Bundy saying to Jefferson, "lets go down to Biggens and have a shot of grape juice" ??????

1. Excuse me, but if that is the main thing you remember, |
|
then I respectfully submit that you need to work on your priorities.
Here are just a few things, just to jog your memory:
baiting organized labor
firing air traffic controllers
throwing thousands off of social security disability (including a client of mine who had scoleosis with a surgically implanted metal rod to keep her spine straight)
trilllions added to the national debt
iran contra
arming the islamic fundamentalists in afghanistan including (we now know) Osama Bin Laden
invading a defenseless island nation in the caribean
placing a wreath on the graves of Hitlers SS
excoriating unions, "welfare queens", and others just trying to get by on a less than adequate income
making the world safe for the (un)Christian right wing nuthouse
sleeping in cabinet meeetings
"trees cause pollution"
Environmental deregulation and degredation on an unprecedented scope
James Watt (who gave us Gail Norton)
Corrupt EPA
Trickle Down Economics (aka tinkle down economics, aka "voodoo economics)
The list goes on and on.

3. I believe I was citing the early RR |
|
The loss of individual liberty
High living on California funds
The list is too long to remember without a headache, so I stuck to the simple stuff.

a friend of mine hating Regan so bad that he taped a picture of Reagan into his ashtrays so he could put his cigarettes out on his face.
Different people had different opinions at different points in our lives. Most of us now know what Reagan did that you've enumerated, and realize how bad it was.
This subject has been talked to death, ad nauseam since yesterday. I enjoyed racenut's lightweight perspective. Lighten up.
