In Shrub's dreams.
I think Nancy and the other reliable witnesses might have something to say about it in this instance.

4. He didn't foster the abject partisanism that shrub does |
|
He was not a mean spirited arrogant person - unlike shrub.

6. That's why my wife is perplexed... |
|
...Not that I would revel in anyones passing. But for years she thought that given how much my dislike of Reagan shaped my politics and who I was that I would be more at peace yet I'm positively ambivalent.
But I'm convinced the reason this is having no impact on me is because given how horrible shrubby is and how bad things are now, I realize that the Reagan years were nothing compared to what is going on now. At least Reagan for all his flaws made concessions and for better or worse, knew exactly what he was doing rather than being guided solely by a cabal of fanatics.

8. And while Nancy was/is a bitch, she knew to keep the "true believers" |
|
away from Ronnie. She knew he couldn't go as far to the right as some of his people/supporters wanted him to. Dumbo, on the other hand, is a true believer himself.

read up on the real history of Reagan. Except for the fact that he was ELECTED, Reagan was easily as stupid and evil as Dubya.

11. I think we have to wait until the books on Dumbo really come out in a few |
|
years...people who are afraid to speak now will really let loose. Besides, it takes a while for the truth to come out, since journalists are loathe to print it. You need to stand back a few years to see what really went on. Most people dont' realize that our foreign policy is run by nitwits who think the Rapture is about to happen. This is truly frightening.

Reagan had a way of talking that made people feel good about themselves. We may not like a lot of what he said and did, but communicated well.
Reagan had far more courage than Dubya. Reagan cut funding for social programs, but Reagan had also said: "government is not the solution to the problem." Dubya praises Head Start, etc then reduces budgets for social programs. I think Reagan really believed in trickle down economics (once called "voodoo economics" by Dubya's father). I think the Bushes just did it/do it to kiss up to their rich friends.
