Don't let them lead you by the nose.... |
|
Do not let them get you down on your knees at the altar of Reagan. I turned on C-SPAN for about 1 minute this morning and I could see the direction it was headed. So, I turned over to HBO and watched Men in Black II, which was much more entertaining and factual, even though it was about alien life.
You don't have to stand in line to worship one of the most divisive and destructive presidents in this nation's history. That does not mean you have to crticize at the top of your lungs. Let them, the Repub cult, have their parade and let them preach to their own choir. For God's sake, don't encourge them.
The division that we see today and that we saw in the election of 2000 is in no small part, a result of the Reagan revolution. Tear down the liberals and destroy everything that we have fought and died for for 75 years. Is that what you want? Think before you join the Praise Reagan Club.

2. My TV is off. Save energy. My computer stream (C-Span) is off. My ears |
|
are taking a break. I decided to enjoy this instead of letting my frustration get out of hand.

He was a truly evil man. But all over Amuruka today people are standing up in churches and "celebrating" his life. Which is as good an explanation as any of why I no longer go to church...

About the Ronnie furor: As my sweet Mama used to say (she died last year at 96), "this too shall pass." After Reagan was out of office, a friend of mine, knowing how I felt about things, gave me a button that stated, "I survived the Reagan administration." Pretty much said it all, but you know what? I was too chicken to wear it! I am just a tired old cynic, but I am praying I'll soon have the chance to buy and WEAR my "I survived Dubya" button. This I will do! And speaking of praying...I'm not going to church today. Can't deal with all the love and praise my fellow Baptists will heap on the Ronald. Besides...if they knew what a flaming liberal I am, they'd never let me through the door, I'm sure. I'm one of those "it's 'tween me and God" types, and I desperately want him to get Dubya out of office! That's my hope and prayer!
I'm a DU "newbie". Really enjoy all the posts and opinions. Hang in there! And again--happy birthday MrsGrumpy!

15. The only problem is, the country did not survive Reagan |
|
and it will not survive *.
The policies Reagan put into place not only destroyed everything we had gained in the 60s, but paved the way for the current regime. Now, the power that * has amassed into the presidency via executive orders, and has consolidated in every facet of American government (not to mention brainwashed into the heads of millions of fawning dittoheads), will not be easily overturned. It will take a generation to even begin cleaning up the mess.
If all we take this November is the presidency, we won't even be able to begin that work.

People were born and people died. Ho-hum. Reagan's just another one. He will be remembered as the man who bankrupted two economic systems.

pound the myth into the ground and make the general public sick to death of the man, the myth, the reality, and the point of view. The gop scum never know when to stop and they will continue this until no one wants to ever hear the evil old dude's name again. And the press will help them.

14. I'm watching Scooby-Do with my kids |

And, like your experience with Men in Black II, even THAT is more factual than some of the drivel I saw on TV this morning!
FTR, Scooby just caught a fish with his tail out of a bucket.
