I have reached the point where I think that the death of President Reagan
was hastened to deflect focusing on the serious political crisis this administration is in.

I think operatives decided now was the time to pull the plug, I also acknowledge that I certainly could be wrong-nevertheless this is where I'm at, these fucking fascists are capable of anything because they are heartless liars.

Now, instead of George Tenet and others being on mainstream media-it's honor President Reagan this news cycle (as seven US carrier battle groups are headed to S.E. Asia, and more criminal investigations and resignations are happening behind the scenes).

Crisis? What crisis?

1. I've got NPR on now - it's wall-to-wall Reagan
Oh, they did have about three minutes devoted to Tenet, but other than that, it's been just another episode of "Ronnie and the Amazing Disappearing Berlin Wall".

2. Actually, now is a good time
I don't believe his death was timed or planned, but now is a pretty good time.

As far as Tenant is concerned, by the time Tenant is ready to speak out (assuming he does) Reagan's funeral will be over, and things will already be returning to normal. Also, Reagan's death in June is WAAAAAY too early to have any affect on the Nov. election. Not that I think it would anyway. The people who are still undecided, aren't gonna have their vote influenced much by the death of Reagan.

5. I almost PUKED when NPR compared Reagun's legacy to FDR's
Yesterday some RW commentator was comparing Reagan to FDR. Talk about sacrilege!

6. Hastened? The guy was 93 years old with Alzheimers...
How much longer was he expected to last? He's been going downhill for years -- time just finally caught up with him.

If this was a matter of "political convenience," Rove's timing is uncharacteristically bad -- it would have made more sense to wait until a month or two prior to elections.

And despite what the Repubs say, Reagan's death is not going to be the all-consuming tragedy that will keep us sobbing all year long (à la Kim Il Sung) and therefore ignorant of what is going on in the rest of the world.

Reagan's dead. Life goes on, and we've still got work to do...

10. Fits the picture to take the the edge off
The last time bush was in Europe it was all Michael Jackson.
They more I watch these folks the less I know everyday.
You can't discriminate from their plans and coincidence. Or is it our collective consciousness that brings on these events that block the truth from coming out?

12. A guy on a Yahoo board told me...
Edited on Sun Jun-06-04 10:12 AM by Atman
no kidding...I know that intro won't win many converts, but the fact is, on a notorious right-wing Yahoo board the other night, one of the freeps posted that he has some sort of connection with one of "the conservative news stations." Hell, could be ANY, but only Fox actually acknowledges they are, so that's my guess. He claimed "he couldn't say much," and all the usual spook crap. But what he DID say sure seems to have come true. He claimed that he was told that a huge news event was going to happen "in a couple of days" that was going to suck the life out of the democrats for the rest of the summer. He said he was told we were going to be screwed, because it would take over all the news for weeks. Hey, anyone could have known a week ago that Reagan was finally going, so that isn't that monumental a call. But the tone, about how they new it was coming and planned to use it to suck the life out of the dems...well, what the hell. I'm getting lots of life out my tin foil hat lately.

16. Mark my words....
In 2 weeks, we'll be back to Laci Patterson and Michael Jackson. The death of a President is big news, but even with Reagan, too much is not a good thing. Once they run out of good things to say, they'll move on.

However, I do believe that Republicans will use his death to beatify him, legislatively, in Congress. Watch the Republican agenda switch from dealing with the issues to forcing debates on creating memorials for Reagan.....they'll try to make Ron the proxy Republican running for President in November. It will be interesting to see if Nancy will pre-empt this theme.........

13. If we could easily imagine it happening in the old Soviet Union,
there's no reason we shouldn't believe it possible in today's Amerika. Not one.

So many of us "foilers" were saying Reagan's death was part of the GOP election equation. Now he's died, I won't be surprised at being called crazy for thinking that maybe we were right. I'm never surprised.

would happen. And they predicted it would happen around the time of the 2004 elections.

18. At 93 with Alzheimer's, a hangnail can kill you.
No one 'timed' this. Nancy decided that her husband had had enough, and allowed the pneumonia to take him. "Some times a cigar is just a cigar", according to Dr. Freud.
