If lurkers make DU look bad, is that good for DU ? |
|
Because the "bad" publicity may get people to check out the website? As someone noted years ago, "bad" publicity is better than no publicity. And if people check out DU as a whole and not one or two asinine posts, which we are all guilty of sometimes, will they not get a better impression of the people here and what our Party stands for in particular? One thing about DU that you will find on few other websites, in my opinion, is that the people here are brutally honest. Sometimes that rubs other DUers the wrong way, but because they are so honest, their minds are open for arguments that might take more than a few minutes to soak into our hard heads.... :)

1. Is it "good" for DU when Dems keep attacking each other? |
|
So many are so worried that we "look bad" because anger is expressed about a man who was responsible for the deaths of thousands and thousands of people.
Yet, there isn't that same sense of concern when nasty things are said about DUers by each other.
Disconnect?

2. Anyone who think that Freerepublic or DU represents the respective parties |

holds an opinion that I do not value.
It's pretty obvious we're both the hard-core fringe Dems and Repubs.

And message boards sometimes attract the crazy element.
People will often post things that they would often not say in public.
Any source that points to a message board like DU and say that is proof positive that liberals are psychotic really needs a reality check. Especially since it is likely that a citing message board is probably nuttier overall than us.
And that goes for all the hypocrites boards out there: FR, CU, etc. Take a good look in the mirror.

6. Thing is, I don't think anything has been said here that isn't being said |

in real life all across the US. People don't forget being messed over by somebody like Reagan. They are remembering and probably being vocal about it to family and friends.

FR posters who cite the lack of respect rendered by some DU posters concerning Reagan's death: you open your website to the same level of scrutiny. I tell you, go ahead and point fingers. Just realize that posters on your own site have written even more hate-filled articles - available for all & sundry to examine.

5. DU is a think tank.... |

We are not the Heritage Foundation but there are some pretty heavy thinkers here, albeit we have our share of lightweights also. :)
