BC takes a swipe at Bushco at CCNY Commencement ...
no link but read it in my local paper.

First of all, the United States could not "succeed in killing, jailing or occupying all of our adversaries." He went on the add, "We've got to make a world with more friends and fewer terrorists."

Damn that common sense!

Bill-y pulpit!

Clinton rips W at CCNY

By JOSE MARTINEZ
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Bill Clinton didn't yell or get all red in the face.

But at the City College of New York graduation yesterday, the ex-President sounded a lot like Al Gore, when he took a swipe at the Bush administration's terror war.

"We have to recognize in an interdependent world we cannot ever succeed in killing, jailing or occupying all of our adversaries," Clinton said. "We've got to make a world with more friends and fewer terrorists."

(snip)

"For a fraction of what we spend on defense - a fraction - we could double our efforts in all of those areas, and make a world with more partners and fewer terrorists."

Gore didn't yell or get all red in the face, either, but that's the script. Check out the Daily Howler for more.

12. I know full well Gore didn't yell etc. - - but I did think it was amusing
That Clinton's style is now being compared to Gore's style, instead of vice-versa. I think it's the first time that's happened since they won in 1992.

3. too bad that this moderate language
is considered that clinton is "taking on" the bush cabal...

too bad that al gore is the only one NOT afraid to speak up and against.

clinton (or his wife) couldn't be any "blah'er" to me.

8. it's not a matter of style
it's a matter of principle.. it's a necessity of the times.

it's being a leader.

if you don't get that now, you never will.

9. i don't, eh?
I think you're all wet.

How many Presidential campaigns have you won lately? I'm guessing from your nom de plume that you are from Atlanta and I do not recall anyone from Atlanta winning any in my lifetime. Criticize to your hearts content but please do not pretend an expertise that you do not possess.

too bad you don't go back to the hole you came from.

...oh, and your logic is idiotic - and i don't have the patience to argue with idiocy.

From you, they mean quite a bit. BTW, such personal acrimony is cowardly when practiced on the internet because it can be said without consequence.

Oh, btw, what happened to the BIG SCOOP you were promising everyone during the primary season? Could it be that it was nothing more than an abundence of hot air and a deep personal need to appear to be something more thn you actually are?

On eedit: re your attack on my logic ... criticize this syllogism, oh wise one.

Newspeople are frauds.

Newsguyatlanta is a newspeople.

Finish it yourself if you can construct based in major, minor and middle terms.

17. I have been here far
longer than you, pup.

Caught you with your pants down and that is the best you can do?

Sounds like you aren't familiar with the major, minor and middle term construction of syllogisms. Sounds like there is probably much you are not familiar with. Sounds like I struck a nerve.

BTW, the state of your patience, either on line or in person, matters little to me although I will note that your declaration of having no time to spend on an idiot such as myself was as much hot air as your illusory "scoop." Clearly, your ego is fragile and when braced just the tiniest bit, you come unglued. Well, happy hunting for your next "scoop."

:toast:

19. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Hey, bud, I'm working poor. I can barely keep rent paid. Some of my MANY friends here have donated in the past for me here and if I knew who to thank, I would do so but right now, I suppose I could donate but I wouldn't be able to keep internet service or a phone. Are you now showing your true colors by jumping on poor people for being poor.

Some liberal.

Your problem is that you have a very thin skin and can brook no criticism without lashing out petulently. So now I'm a bad guy because I do not have enough money.

Fine.

I guess you're certainly not Tom Joad, are you?

10. I am going to agree
Clinton is old already. I think he just needs to fade away. There is nothing there to adore at this point, even though his service to this country was great.

I am so impressed with Gore's last two speeches. It is as if the man has found the right way to preach truth instead of being so cautious as to allow others to use that cautiousness against him.

Clinton is blah and is cautious and most of the time, I suspect, is playing this game because Hillary intends to run for president next time around. You know, as smart and brilliant as he was, I am, to be frank, sick and tired of these games.

15. Who said Bill
was giving this speech as a way to upstage Al? The two aren't mutually exclusive.

I'd criticize the writer of the article for comparing them, with an oblique reference at that, not that Bill's message wasn't spot on. Because it was.
