How many former Presidents have died since 1979? |
|
I think that it is only two, (Nixon and Reagan) but I am not sure. I know that if JFK hadn't been shot he could still possibly be alive now. Since he was younger than Reagan chronologically.

6. But would JFK actually be alive? |
|
He had lots of health problems in his short life (though he concealed them well). Some interesting alternate history here. Interesting theories, too: http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:5kN3wpizxF4J:www.jeffreyland.com/jfk/whatif/+&hl=en(Sorry, it's a cached version. Can't load the original)

10. Some things actually sound better in this history. |
|
No 9/11, no pResident GWB, no Dan Quayle, no Lewinsky scandal for Clinton, Lennon lived. Sadly no Beatlemania, no President Jimmy Carter, 20 straight years of Republican domination over the Presidency. So, which reality would you take?

13. One major flaw in his alternate history though. |
|
Richard M. Nixon won the Republican nomination for president in 1972. Nixon's running mate was Ronald Reagan, a popular second term governor in California.
Nixon & Reagan were both Californians, so this ticket would have been illegal. Yes, I know what Cheney got away with, but as the recent governor of California, Reagan wouldn't have likely pulled off the claim that his residency was Dixon Illinois.

16. Not only would it have been |

unconstitutional, but Nixon disliked Reagan.
I think there were some recent tapes released with Nixon complaining about Reagan.

8. a few will die in the next years |
|
Quite likely that Carter, Ford and Poppy Bush 'will' die within the next decade. They are past average lifespan allready.
The US presidents are aged in batches...quite odd.
One batch: FDR: January 30, 1882 Truman: May 8, 1884 Ike: October 14, 1890
Here presidents from 1932 to 1960 (28 years) are born within 8 years of eachother.
Johnson: August 27, 1908 Reagan: February 6, 1911 Nixon: January 9, 1913 Ford: July 14, 1913 Kennedy: May 29, 1917
Here presidents from 1960 to 1988 (28 years) are born within 9 years of eachother.
Then another batch of two: Carter: October 1, 1924 Poppy Bush: June 12, 1924
And then another batch of two: Junior Bush: July 6, 1946 Clinton: August 19, 1946
Statistically it should be spread out, not lumped together. It's like Americans focus on one certain political generation, then bump many years down the line.
Notice noone born between 1890 - 1908 and 1924 - 1946.

Before Nixon, it had been 20 years since LBJ passed away (Jan 22, 1973) Truman died almost a month earlier (Dec. 26, 1972).

Johnson died in the early 70s; Reagan went yesterday and Nixon about 10 years ago; everyone else since Johnson is still alive.
