An actual LTTE to Ft. Worth Star-Telegram-if you didn't laugh, you'd cry
http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/news/opinion/local2/8846375.htm

It's the third one down. Here's the text of it:

After many years of subscribing to the Star-Telegram, I won't renew my subscription.

The media's relentless assault on President Bush is disgusting. The final straw was their obsession with Iraqi prisoner abuse while ignoring positive news of our soldiers' accomplishments. Where are the stories about the economy being the strongest in 20 years? My blood pressure can't take it any more!

So, goodbye, Jim Wright, Molly Ivins and Etta Hulme. So long, Doonesbury, Maureen Dowd and the rest of you liberals. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go hoist my American flag and turn on FOXNews to hear a fair and balanced newscast.

Ah, I can feel my blood pressure going down already.

Cindy Sanders
Crowley

OH my. Fox news and fair and balanced? If I didn't know any better, I'd say this was really bad satire. But it's for real. Really. I say the paper, almost any paper, is going to provide better, more balanced coverage than FUX news ANYDAY. What's ironic is how she seems to want some balance, but at the same time is sticking her head in the sand. This is what bush supporters have been reduced to. A child with their fingers in their ears screaming, "LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

1. Christ on a pony...
Imagine if this stupid woman *didn't* have a Texas newspaper? She'd be dead from a massive stroke not just worrying about her blood pressure. Sure, the FWS-T aint the Dallas Morning News (or, god forbid the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal which makes any other paper seem sane editorially...even the WSJ) but honey, what you are bailing on ISN"T "liberal"

I need a beer. Time to fire up the grill and continue my happy, happy weekend. Whee!

3. Tell me your take on the
Dallas Morning News and that Lubbock paper I've never heard of. Also the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. Do you consider them conservative? Somewhat balanced? I am especially curious about the DMN. I grew up with that paper (they bought out the Dallas Times Herald in the 80s and became a one-paper town, thank goodness there is still the Star-Telegram, no telling how long it'll last before DMN gets rid of them, too).

2. For a "liberal," it's amazing how much Maureen Dowd makes

For a "liberal," it's amazing how much Maureen Dowd makes fun of Al Gore.

Maureen Dowd recently wrote that Gore's speech saying Tenet, Rumsfeld, etc. should resign makes him part of the "whackadoo wing of the Democratic Party."

Of course, Tenet then DID resign, so maybe Al Gore had a point.

You can read Al Gore's speech at MoveLeft Media:

4. I brought up that point about Al Gore
saying Tenet should resign and then five days later he does on another forum to some freepers and they were strangely, oddly MUM on the subject. Said NOTHING.

6. The whole "Al Gore is insane" thing wasn't sincere. It was a lie.
The whole "Al Gore is insane" thing wasn't sincere.

It was a lie.

The pundits like John Podheretz who actually wrote "Al Gore is insane" shouldn't be invited to appear on talk shows, anymore.

John Podheretz was a guest on "The Daily Show" to promote his pro-Bush book before writing that column, but I don't think they should have him on again when he wants to promote his next book.
