We are so lucky * is an inarticulate boob!
Can you imagine what a state we'd be in if he were a charismatic public speaker like Reagan?

6. Bush* refers to shrub...
The "*" after his name is meant to indicate that in the history books, he should be Bush* instead of plain old Bush because his
(s)election was given to him by the USSC, not the voters. Same deal with Roger Maris' Babe Ruth record breaking 61 homer season, which some denoted as 61*, because of differences in the baseball seasons from when Ruth played and when Maris played.

7. Ah, you see it's like this...
Bush will always have an asterisk by his name in the history books because he didn't really win the election:
----
George W. Bush*

*Selected by the Supreme Court.
-----
So he is always refered to as Bush*, *Bush, or just *.

9. I guess that clarifies a lot
of posts I've seen with asterisks, where I didn't have the slightest idea what they were talking about.

I think it's a rather insignificant distinction, in any case. The electoral college determines the winner, not the popular vote.

11. The electoral college did not select this
president, the Supreme Court did by stopping the vote recount in Florida.

15. I lost track of
how many time the votes were recounted....

We need to get over this Florida thing. If Gore had carried his home state, it would have been irrelevant.

16. "We" who? I personally won't "get over this Florida thing" until...
...the NeoCon Junta is removed from office. Sooner rather than later. Period.

And let me tell you about Gore's home state...the same crap that took place in Florida ALSO took place in every other Southern state. State police units blocked routes to voting precincts, some voting precincts were closed without any notification other than stating where those voters could go to vote (usually across town), polls were closed with hundreds of voters still in line, and other situations too numerous to count.

Florida got the publicity because that was part of the plan for using the captive mainstream media. They ignored the other stories until it was too late to do anything about it.

17. Um...
For someone with as many posts as you, it surprises me that you ask questions about what stuff means on DU (this isn't the first time)....stuff you should know after having so many posts...

and then you say "get over Florida"??

Sorry, it seems suspect to me, people.

Rove: Ex-cellent. How about "Nuclear"

W: Heh heh. You know better than to try that one.

Rove: Fair enough. George, say "Leadership."

W: Consawhat? Never heard of it.

Rove: Gooooood.
