...between now and November (or until Nancy gets fed up and goes public) we will be told the urgency of continuing the work that Reagan started. You'd better BELIEVE that she's talking about her boyfriend when she mentions "a vision to dream of a better, safer world, and the courage, persistence and patience to turn that dream into reality"...

Dr. Condoleezza Rice Previews the G8 Summit on Monday
Press Briefing by National Security Advisor, Dr. Condoleezza Rice on the G8 Summit

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/06/20040607-2.html

"DR. RICE: Let me welcome you here to this very important summit. I'd like to start by just saying a word, of course, about the great sadness that the country feels at the death of former President Ronald Reagan, a true giant in international politics, and of course, someone who was very much associated with this summit. He hosted it in Williamsburg in 1983, and I think was one of the people who really gave the G8 a kind of -- at that time, the G7 -- a kind of profile. And so we all are deeply saddened by his death, and look forward this week to the opportunity to remember him, as a country and as a world.

As President Reagan said in 1985, the challenge of statesmanship is to have a vision to dream of a better, safer world, and the courage, persistence and patience to turn that dream into reality. And this week, the G8 statesmen will stand united in their resolve to build a better, united, and safer world."

8. I can't wait to watch Ron, Jr's reaction
I suppose the media will keep their cameras off the family during Bush's eulogy in case they do react badly to it.

15. John McCain did the eulogy
at Maureen Reagan s funeral. He was & is really close to the Reagans.
They wanted to see him beat Shrub in 2000, but they were told to stay neutral.

I am sure the Reagan family would prefer someone else to do the eulogy. Ron Jr. said something about Dubya being the drunk in the room when his Dad was President & Bush Sr was Veep.

26. i'd hate to have him doing the eulogy
it kills any chance of an emotional ceremony when you have a guy reading 4 words, pausing, turning slightly, reading four more, pausing, turning slightly the other way, reading for more...etc

28. Clinton eulogized Nixon
I think it is SOP for the President to eulogize a deceased president. But I'm really not sure; this is the first full-blown state funeral since 1973 (which is pretty amazing when you stop to think about it).
