don't say anything bad about reagan o.k.?...THEY'RE watching us
Edited on Tue Jun-08-04 05:43 AM by mopaul
don't use foul language, and don't say anything unseemly about this great and saintly man, cause he just died o.k.?

don't say anything about thousands of innocents murdered in central america cause he just died for christ's sake. don't say that the reagan revolution was actually a band of suited pirates raiding the treasury and savings and loans. that part should remain unmentioned. cause he just died.

and please say it nicely when you say that he cut funding for the poor and needy and put thousands on the street to fend for themselves and then said 'they want to be there', cause that might not sound too good cause afterall, he just died.

and please don't make us all look bad by being glad he's gone, cause that's worse than all the people that he had killed while smiling and eating jellybeans. showing disrespect for the office of president is just plain immature, what will niel boortz and andy sullivan say? the very thought has me vaporish.

maybe before you hit 'post message' you should think first. am i going to hurt the democratic party by saying something awful about reagan and blow the whole election? remember, THEY are watching us.
no matter what we print here, THEY are watching us. we are so awful sometimes thinking outloud and saying anything other than sunshine and happiness words.

so, try this, reagan was a happy, shiny, grandfatherly, saintly, wonderful chap whose face should be on the dime and mt. rushmore.
reagan will be rewarded in heaven as the greatest president we ever had and he's dead now so don't say anything bad about him cause THEY are watching.

1. Ummm, MoP...
... maybe it's time for a brief reappraisal.... Reagan is now trying to find some asbestos and air-conditioning. He's being told that he's to wait for Bush I and II to arrive, and when they do, he's going to get an education in AIDS and compassionate conservatism and the film strength of Vaseline at high temperatures....

...what was Ronald Reagan's best movie role, he responded, "Well, gee, you know he made 48 movies. That was pretty remarkable. Four of them were pretty good (Rich hesitates, then reaches and names the four), but the other 44 were pretty forgettable."

Your going to go down in history as a bunch of ass kissing traitors who set this country back 200 years.

I hope that they put your pictures in the History books and make the students learn about the dark era and each kid will have to memorize your name and how you helped destroy this country by being paid off by the Bush Crime Family.

6. How about 66 crappy things about Raygun?
66 (Unflattering) Things About Ronald Reagan

Editor's Note: This list of "66 Things to Think about When Flying in to Reagan National Airport" appeared in the Nation on March 2, 1998 after the renaming of Washington National Airport after Ronald Reagan. As Corn says, "the piece remains relevant today – particularly as a cheat sheet for those who dare to point out the Reagan presidency was not all that glorious and was more nightmare in America than morning in America."

By David Corn

" The Nation" -- June 6, 2004 -- The firing of the air traffic controllers, winnable nuclear war, recallable nuclear missiles, trees that cause pollution, Elliott Abrams lying to Congress, ketchup as a vegetable, colluding with Guatemalan thugs, pardons for F.B.I. lawbreakers, voodoo economics, budget deficits, toasts to Ferdinand Marcos, public housing cutbacks, redbaiting the nuclear freeze movement, James Watt.

Getting cozy with Argentine fascist generals, tax credits for segregated schools, disinformation campaigns, "homeless by choice," Manuel Noriega, falling wages, the HUD scandal, air raids on Libya, "constructive engagement" with apartheid South Africa, United States Information Agency blacklists of liberal speakers, attacks on OSHA and workplace safety, the invasion of Grenada, assassination manuals, Nancy's astrologer.

Drug tests, lie detector tests, Fawn Hall, female appointees (8 percent), mining harbors, the S&L scandal, 239 dead U.S. troops in Beirut, Al Haig "in control," silence on AIDS, food-stamp reductions, Debategate, White House shredding, Jonas Savimbi, tax cuts for the rich, "mistakes were made."

19. KAL 007...
ferchrisake! it was THE major (next to fake assasination attempt by hinckley) event of reagan's admin....it destroyed what was left of representative democracy and forever corrupted the news media....
obviously, ronald 'mcdonald' reagan had nada to do with either event, except as frontman, being tired from golf....
many signal events of hushtory take place in secret, and easily forgotten....kal 007 happened in headlines, yet is totally forgotten, even by critics, skeptics and anti-nasty subversives!
believe me: a modern airliner cannot stray for hours 300 miles off course into most deadly airspace on earth w/out someone (Japan, Alaska, or the russians themselves) saying something....

7. We should PRAISE Reagan more.
He hobnobbed only with the finest Central American butchers:
After the 1982 coup that brought Rios Mont to power, U.S. Ambassador Frederic C. Chapin said Guatemala "has come out of the darkness and into the light." President Reagan claimed Mont was given "a bum rap" by human rights groups, and that he was cleaning up problems inherited from his predecessor, General Romeo Lucas Garcia. Ironically, Garcia had given $500,000 to Reagan's 1980 campaign, and his henchman, Mario Sandoval Alarcon, the "Godfather" of Central American death squads, was a guest at Reagan's first inaugural celebration. Sandoval proudly calls his National Liberation Movement "the party of organized violence."

Mont simply moved Garcia's dirty war from urban centers to the countryside "where the spirit of the Lord" guided him against "communist subversives", mostly indigenous Indians. As many as 10,000 Indians were killed and over 100,000 fled to Mexico as a result of Mont's "Christian" campaign.

8. Can you imagine if Clinton died?
There would be a right-wing celebration like never before.

I for one intend to not watch the Reagan memorial and to criticize it endlessly, like our friends on the right did with Wellstone. Of course it's seemed like Reagan's been dead for years now, has just been a matter of time, it's not as though emotions will be raw like when the death is completely unexpected (and suspicious).

The inbred bumbler giving a eulogy for the "great communicator". That should really be a study in contrasts. Regardless of how one feels/felt about Reagan, at least he spoke English coherently.

14. It will all fade away and be gone after Friday's funeral.
the eye opener for me here is that we are suffering through George Bush's trail of sorrows he has unleashed on the world, and after reading some of these threads, I am convinced there are those here, should BushII die, who would defend him in the same way and villify those of us who would say we would piss on his grave.

Should Bush II die,we would be told that we should "respect" him, for the "sake of" Laura and the twins and big Bar and daddy Bush. Seems that some perceive dying as a holy sacrament and when indulged in by any one person, removes all evil from the evil dead man's slate out of "respect"

and it does--it diminishes the acts of evil and it will diminish it for future presidents who would do the same. It lowers the bar just a little more. It removes just a little more, incentive to do the right thing instead of hiring propaganda firms to make the wrong thing appear as if it is the right thing and thereby fooling the people who would shed tears over a dead George BushII -

George Bush is watching and even presiding and you can be sure that he envisions for himself all of the pomp and circumstance that is being given to Reagan . He has got to perceive that Reagan is being so honored and so "respected" and he, George Bush, will get the same someday. He is making plans already for his presidential library and seeing to it that all records of his administration will go down the memory hole and replaced with glitzy displays of all his costumes.

Reagans my hero beause he provided technology for chemical and biological warfare to Saddam Hussien when Saddam was fighting those godless heathens the Iranians.

Reagans my hero because he funded and started the fighters in Afganistan like Osama ben Ladden.

Reagans my hero because he sold weapons to the Iranians as they were fighting Saddam Hussien so he could get around the 'soft on communism' congress. With this money he was able to fight those airhead socialist that got elected in central america and also bring crack cocaine into Los Angelos. The crack helped convince the politicians they needed to spend more money on Americas war on drugs.

Yep, Ronnies my hero.

The Contras, Cocaine,
and Covert Operations

An August, 1996, series in the San Jose Mercury News by reporter Gary Webb linked the origins of crack cocaine in California to the contras, a guerrilla force backed by the Reagan administration that attacked Nicaragua's Sandinista government during the 1980s. Webb's series, "The Dark Alliance," has been the subject of intense media debate, and has focused attention on a foreign policy drug scandal that leaves many questions unanswered.
This electronic briefing book is compiled from declassified documents obtained by the National Security Archive, including the notebooks kept by NSC aide and Iran-contra figure Oliver North, electronic mail messages written by high-ranking Reagan administration officials, memos detailing the contra war effort, and FBI and DEA reports. The documents demonstrate official knowledge of drug operations, and collaboration with and protection of known drug traffickers. Court and hearing transcripts are also included.

Documentation of Official U.S. Knowledge of
Drug Trafficking and the Contras
The National Security Archive obtained the hand-written notebooks of Oliver North, the National Security Council aide who helped run the contra war and other Reagan administration covert operations, through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed in 1989. The notebooks, as well as declassified memos sent to North, record that North was repeatedly informed of contra ties to drug trafficking.
In his entry for August 9, 1985, North summarizes a meeting with Robert Owen ("Rob"), his liaison with the contras. They discuss a plane used by Mario Calero, brother of Adolfo Calero, head of the FDN, to transport supplies from New Orleans to contras in Honduras. North writes: "Honduran DC-6 which is being used for runs out of New Orleans is probably being used for drug runs into U.S." As Lorraine Adams reported in the October 22, 1994 Washington Post, there are no records that corroborate North's later assertion that he passed this intelligence on drug trafficking to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

In a July 12, 1985 entry, North noted a call from retired Air Force general Richard Secord in which the two discussed a Honduran arms warehouse from which the contras planned to purchase weapons. (The contras did eventually buy the arms, using money the Reagan administration secretly raised from Saudi Arabia.) According to the notebook, Secord told North that "14 M to finance came from drugs."

An April 1, 1985 memo from Robert Owen (code-name: "T.C." for "The Courier") to Oliver North (code-name: "The Hammer") describes contra operations on the Southern Front. Owen tells North that FDN leader Adolfo Calero (code-name: "Sparkplug") has picked a new Southern Front commander, one of the former captains to Eden Pastora who has been paid to defect to the FDN. Owen reports that the officials in the new Southern Front FDN units include "people who are questionable because of past indiscretions," such as José Robelo, who is believed to have "potential involvement with drug running" and Sebastian Gonzalez, who is "now involved in drug running out of Panama."

On February 10, 1986, Owen ("TC") wrote North (this time as "BG," for "Blood and Guts") regarding a plane being used to carry "humanitarian aid" to the contras that was previously used to transport drugs. The plane belongs to the Miami-based company Vortex, which is run by Michael Palmer, one of the largest marijuana traffickers in the United States. Despite Palmer's long history of drug smuggling, which would soon lead to a Michigan indictment on drug charges, Palmer receives over $300,000.00 from the Nicaraguan Humanitarian Aid Office (NHAO) -- an office overseen by Oliver North, Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs Elliott Abrams, and CIA officer Alan Fiers -- to ferry supplies to the contras.

and soooo much more......

This is the "Corp.Media" Read it and you will change your mind about the cable news nets and talk radio.

Read the rest. There are only 1495 daily newspapers now. Not much of a job market.

In radio a reporter is avg. $15,000 per year. A programmer is the top 30,000.
Read it all and hold your tongue when you dis radio. This aint no TV this aint WKRP.

I am quite aware that everybody from Tweety on down is monitoring DU for the slightest sign of an impure thought, and I can assure everyone here (or there) that I have done an EXTREME amount of soul-searching and contemplation. It is only with the PUREST of motives that I am compelled to say:

they can't have ALL the assholes on their side, we need a few on our side just to keep them pissed, to let them know how it feels.

i am that asshole.

46. Some of us don't need a set of written-down rules...
...to have some idea what tact is.

43. Listen...I don't care if Reagan is attacked...BUT
They have us way out maneuvered in the spin and orgabization department. You can look forward to all the media blasting us heartless liberals for saying such nasty things about St. Ronnie. O' Reilley wil do amny segments about it, as will Rush, Hannity and their ilk. From there it will go to MSNBC, Fox and CNN. NO ONE will bring up the attacks from the right when Wellstone passed. Who is posting the freeper threads about Wellstone, who is posting the quotes from Rush? They are out maneuvering us again...and we will pay a price unless we get it together and quick. I heard some right wingnut refer to the DU postings as the "liberal abu-gharib" When people read this stuff out of its context, without the other view being presented, it hurts us all. They caught us unaware when CBS dumped the reagan movie...all they heard from was the Freepers. By the time we woke up, they already had it yanked. This could be really bad if we let it get away from us unchallenged.

44. We've been watched for a long time...
Interesting how since I joined DU late last year, I got letters of inquiry from both the IRS and the Connecticut Dept of Rev Services for the first time in my life just this past month.

Or, maybe it was the donations, albeit small, to Move On, DU and John Kerry?

Adios motherfucker. If they want to read that while rubbing their teary eyes, and blubbering about that worthless piece of shit, fuck them and the fucking elephant they rode in on.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

52. Ya know...I was wrong. RR ain't in hell
He's in heaven, fer sure. He never did no wrong. Why he followed them 10 commandmants as well as anybody, fer sure. Why he treated the poor and sick as if they was brothers and sisters. It was just his way of saying "tough" love.

St. Ronnie deserves to be made into one of them there official saint things like they got in church. Heck, pin him to a cross, too. He'd like that.

God bless Ronnie. I'm sure God is having to deal special with Ronnie tho, haha! Sure as shootin' ol' Ronnie's probly anglin for the top spot up there in Heaven and that's why God has put him in a special room all to hisself!

Thanks for the memories, Ronnie! And a special thanks to all you DU'ers who helped to relive all those special days when Ronnie was the most powerful man in the world and he coulda done so much good if'n he hadn't a forgot, 'n all that.

By Ronnie, glad to see ya go... jest kiddin' Ron, jest kiddin'.
