A repug caller in C-Span said that if Reagan were president he would have
"taken care of Iraq!!!!" and then some other idiotic comments. But this gives me hope. The comparison between an idiot that knew how to lie effectively and an idiot that mangles everything he is trying to do might WORK AGAINST Bush!!!!

2. People Are Getting Tired Of This Revisionism
Gotta love those wingnuts now supposedly in "grieving" (they give the world grief with every breath they steal) and rewriting the 1980s and the Raygun "legacy". And a lot of it is to distract from the tremendous failures and problems of this current regime.

Listening to all these tributes, one would have thought Gorbachev was not around in the 80's nor Lech Walesa or many of the others who actually breached the corrupt Soviet system and led to the true downfall of Communism. A late friend of mine who was in Eastern Europe in 1989 said if there was anything that brought down the wall it was the television and fax machine...once the Soviets couldn't supress the free flow of information, their control was gone and people become empowered. His great line is how the most important thing for East Germans crossing the wall that night was to go shopping. Raygun had zero to do with this.

For many of us, the 80's were a difficult time at best...seeing the promise of our generation fade as educational opportunities vanished, the economy went stagnant and it forced families into two incomes to survive thus devestating the family structure (wanna deal with divorce and other marital problems...follow the money) and the explosion of crack cocaine, homelessness and AIDS. That's the real Raygun legacy, and I sure won't forget it.

3. Funny, he didn't "take care" of Iraq...
...after an Iraqi fighter jet attacked the USS Stark and killed our sailors with an Exocet missile.
