It's Official. Shrub = Saint Ronnie
The offical GOP party line is the shrub (a.k.a. pResident Bush) is as great and wonderful as Saint Ronnie (a.k.a. Reagan).

I for one am at a loss. Saint Ronnie may have been one of the top 40 president of the USA. But to equate the shrub to him kinda brings Saint Ronnie down. Don't ya think?

Bush Lied, People Died.

1. tell them "not so fast, kid"
here is a super read from Krugman's column in the NYT today -- where most clearly dimson DOES NOT EQUAL the accidental saint

I did not and do not approve of President Reagan's economic policies, which saddled the nation with trillions of dollars in debt. And as others will surely point out, some of the foreign policy shenanigans that took place on his watch, notably the Iran-contra scandal, foreshadowed the current debacle in Iraq (which, not coincidentally, involves some of the same actors).

Still, on both foreign and domestic policy Mr. Reagan showed both some pragmatism and some sense of responsibility. These are attributes sorely lacking in the man who claims to be his political successor.

2. Don't see Nancy and Ron jr letting it happen
Especially Ron jr. Didn't he remark once that his dad crapped bigger than W?

No fond of any of the Reagan clan, but Ron Jr. sure knows how to trun a phrase!

3. well, if Raygun was in the top 40, then * definitely belongs in the top 43

at least until 44 is elected. I honestly don't get all the RR worship, even my Repub friends back then would roll their eyes at some of his whoppers. But, he could give a speech. I still remember the one after the Challenger. But a "great president"? Nah, he just played one on TV.

4. Watch and learn
What made Reagan so popular is how riled up and crazy he made liberals. Ever wonder why someone as poisonous as Ann Coulter has a carreer? Its because she/he/it delivers what the right wants. Crazed insensed liberals.

Liberals have been telling the right that they are wrong for hating and discriminating for decades now. The right has little recourse but to knuckle under and take the drubbing. They have no truth on their side other than what they declare to be true. But then we come back at them with tons of studies and reasons why their truth is wrong. So they thrill whenever someone can make us spin in circles like Reagan did and Coulter and Bush do now.
